Dr. Bridges is an Award-Winning Cosmetic Surgeon and Director of Bridges to Beauty. Dr. Bridges specializes in Cosmetic Surgery, Advanced Injection techniques and Laser Therapy and the most up to date age management medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He received his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in 1979. He then earn his medical degree from the nationally respected Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. While at Duke he performed cutting edge research to combat melanoma with immunotherapy. Dr. Bridges completed a General Surgery residency program at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport as well as a one year Burn Research Fellowship studying burn immunology. In 1991 he received a nationally recognized Board Certification in General Surgery
Dr. Bridges completed his Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery Residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville Virginia in 1991, He then completed a Hand and Burn Fellowship in 1992. The Department of Plastic Surgery is nationally known for cranial facial reconstruction, burn research and for advance microvascular and hand surgery. Dr. Bridges then received his Board Certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
In 1992, Dr. Bridges was highly recruited by the Department of Surgery at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport to become their first Chief of Plastic and Microvascular Surgery. He served also as an assistant professor of the Orthopedics Department to teach residents intricate hand surgery and microvascular techniques. He worked with both the Oral Surgery Service and Head and Neck Surgery for reconstruction of complex jaw and facial reconstruction. As the leading plastic surgeon and microvascular specialist at a Level One Trauma Center, he performed over 56 complicated life and limb saving microscopic free tissue transfers for upper and lower limb reconstruction, breast reconstruction, large tissue losses and finger replantations in his first 2 years. This was the largest number of microvascular free tissue transfers in the Ark-La-Tex region.
In 1995, Dr. Bridges started his private practice. He originally concentrated on reconstructed procedures of the breast, hand and lower extremities. In 1998, he opened Bridges To Beauty where he quickly developed a predominately cosmetic surgery practice. He was the first cosmetic surgeon to offer Botox injections in the Ark-La-Tex area. In 1999, he added Shreveport’s first office-based laser therapy practice which include facial resurfacing, vascular and pigment removal lasers as well as a medical spa services.
Over 23 years, Dr. Bridges has provided advanced method related to breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Bridges has actively participated in two separate national breast implant studies in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Bridges is a highly respected cosmetic surgeon among his colleagues and patients from Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas as well as many parts of the United States.
