National Infant Immunization Week: April 19-25

Join us in celebrating National Infant Immunization Week! This week is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of protecting our little ones from vaccine-preventable diseases. 👶

Vaccines are a crucial part of keeping infants healthy and safe. They help prevent serious illnesses like measles, whooping cough, and polio. By ensuring your child is vaccinated, you're not only protecting them but also helping to safeguard the health of our community.

At Lifelong, we're committed to making sure your little ones have access to vaccinations, ensuring they grow up healthy and strong. 💪👶

đź“… Mark your calendars and make sure your child's immunizations are up to date. Let's work together to create a healthier future for all children!

A look at Quality Improvement in action at LeNoir Health Center:
LeNoir is a vital part of LifeLong’s network, providing pediatric, behavioral health, and supportive services for families, along with connections to resources like Medi-Cal and food assistance.
As always, the LeNoir team showed strong engagement and commitment to improving care for patients and families.
We also explored new tools to support patient education, including children’s books about immunizations that can be shared during future events, helping make these conversations more accessible and family friendly.
Small and intentional moments like this help strengthen trust, understanding, and health outcomes in our communities.
Thank you to the Quality Improvement and LeNoir teams for their partnership and ongoing work to strengthen care for our patients and families.

LifeLong has seen a lot in 50 years. From the social justice movements of the 1970s that created our first health center, through a worldwide pandemic, to the current digital revolution, healthcare has evolved – and LifeLong with it, often leading the way. Keep reading here for milestones in our half-century of compassionate care.

1976
LifeLong founder and CEO Emeritus Marty Lynch has often said that the Gray Panthers didn’t just start a clinic; they helped build a movement. In 1976, older Berkeley residents, particularly low-income Black people in South Berkeley, had nowhere to turn for affordable, consistent healthcare.

At the time, Lillian Rabinowitz, a fierce advocate for the rights of older people, headed the Gray Panthers Bay Area chapter. Rabinowitz, along with neighbors and other advocates, believed that healthcare is a right deserved by all, regardless of income or circumstance. Her group addressed the egregious gaps in care by organizing a storefront clinic for older patients.
That clinic, Over 60 Health Center, still in existence today at Sacramento Street and Alcatraz Avenue in Berkeley, became the first building block of the robust network of health centers across two East Bay counties that we operate today.

Throughout 2026, LifeLong is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its inception – first as a storefront clinic for older people and a half-century later as a network of community health centers spanning two East Bay counties. This video highlights LifeLong’s founding in 1976 by the Gray Panthers through expansion of services that the region’s most vulnerable populations have access to today.

50 years. One unforgettable night.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for LifeLong Medical Care’s 2026 50th Anniversary Gala at the Oakland Marriott City Center. We were honored to recognize community leader Arnold Perkins and to welcome Berkeley Mayor Adena Ishii as a special guest.

With inspiring energy from emcee Nikki Thomas, celebratory remarks from Congresswoman Lateefah Simon and Mayor Barbara Lee, recollections from founder Marty Lynch, and a moving tribute from a parent and grandparent of
several LifeLong patients of Dr. Michael LeNoir, the night was a meaningful reminder of why this work matters.

It was an evening filled with purpose, connection, and generosity as we celebrated five decades of care and community impact.

If you were unable to attend the gala, we invite you to be part of this important work.

Please consider making a gift below to help sustain LifeLong’s mission and the communities we care for, link in bio.

As we look back on our extraordinary 50th Anniversary Gala at the Oakland Marriott City Center, we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this milestone celebration possible.

The evening reflected LifeLong’s 50‑year story, honoring our beginnings, celebrating the present and continuing to build for the future. Together, we gathered not just to mark a moment in time, but to recognize the people, partnerships, and shared purpose behind five decades of care, advocacy, and community‑centered health.

We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and media sponsors whose generosity and belief in LifeLong made this celebration possible.

Thank you for standing with us, celebrating with us, and helping us mark 50 years of impact and a future still providing care.

On March 9, LifeLong Medical Care joined the Health4All coalition at the California State Capitol to advocate for the restoration and preservation of . Alongside legislative champions and community allies, our Director of Community Engagement, Damali Robertson, stood in support of health care access for all.

Following the press conference, coalition members provided public comment at the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 hearing, where lawmakers heard directly about the importance of immigrant health. We are deeply grateful to everyone who testified and spoke up in support of our shared priorities.

Achieving the Health4All vision requires collective action. Whether showing up in person or supporting from afar, our voices matter. Together, we will continue fighting to advance Health4All and protect Federally Qualified Health Centers, which are essential to care for our most impacted communities.
