WIC is committed to serving and keeping California families informed, and we want to reassure you: WIC benefits are still available, and WIC offices remain open.

On March 14, 2025, Congress passed a Continuing Resolution that provides federal funding through September 30, 2025. Congress needs to pass a federal budget or a Continuing Resolution before that date to prevent a government shutdown.

What you can do?
- Continue to use your WIC benefits
- Attend your WIC appointments
- Stay in contact with your local WIC office
- Stay informed

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of frozen deep sprouted mat (moth) and deep sprouted moong from Chetak LLC due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella can cause serious illness in vulnerable individuals such as young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.

The following products and associated LOT codes have been recalled.

Deep Sprouted Mat (Moth) 16 oz with the following LOT codes printed on the back of the bag:
•24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292

Deep Sprouted Moong 16 oz with the following LOT codes printed on the back of the bag:
•24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292

WIC families, who have purchased 16 oz. packet of sprouted mat (moth) and sprouted moong are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, contact the company at (908) 209-8878

Starting August 1, WIC will provide Enfamil milk based formulas and Similac soy based formulas.

Make sure to:
✅Use your WIC App to check which formula you can buy.
✅Call your WIC office or visit MyFamily.WIC.ca.gov for answers to your formula questions.

Switching to a new formula? No worries, we are here to help! 👩‍🍼

Most babies can transition from one formula to another without any problems. You might notice small changes in your baby's p**p, gas, or feeding, but that's normal and usually gets better in a few days.

Tips:
✅ Use up your old formula before starting a new one
✅ Mix old and new formulas for a smooth transition
✅ Watch for changes—but know it's all part of the process
✅ Reach out to your health care provider if you're unsure

Great News, WIC families!

You can now shop at WIC authorized farmers' markets using the new California WIC Card.

The new WIC Card now has a quick-response (QR) code, making it easy to use your Fruits and Vegetables Benefit at farmers' markets. Use your card to buy fresh, organic, and locally grown produce. 🍅🥦🍇🥕

Here is how it works:
1. Shop at a WIC authorized farmers' market.
2. Show your WIC Card, and the farmer will scan the QR code.
3. Confirm your purchase by entering your PIN, and enjoy fresh, local fruits and vegetables.

We’re honored to share that PHFE WIC, a program of has been recognized by the for our long-standing Employee Perinatal Support Program!

Since its launch in 1996, our program has been rooted in one core belief: supporting breastfeeding employees is essential to workplace wellness and equity. From providing paid pumping time and private lactation spaces, to access to 27 IBCLCs and flexible remote work, we’re proud to create a culture where breastfeeding is not just supported—but celebrated.

📊 The results speak for themselves:

• 100% breastfeeding initiation among participating employees
• 73% of babies born to staff in 2023 were exclusively breastfed for a full year
• In 2024, all 17 babies were exclusively breastfed for a year
• Most children continue nursing into toddlerhood—with 82% breastfeeding to age two in 2023

We’re especially proud of the community we’ve built through monthly support groups, where employees and their partners find connection, encouragement, and practical guidance.
