Massage Therapy by Jack Stella Precision - Effective - Results Based Massage Therapy I have extensive training in Orthopedic Massage, Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Therapy.

With 20 years in private practice and the honor of being a massage and anatomy instructor, I offer my clients very anatomically specific and results based massage therapy. My training in Orthopedic Massage began as a result of having bilateral hip replacement surgery. This affords me the unique insight into the specific needs of clients who have had Orthopedic procedures. I also offer private instruction for massage therapists wanting to advance their skills.

EARLY CLIENTS IN THE DOOR ON THE TABLE.

DANCERS IN TOWN ASKING FOR "MAKE NICE TO OUR FEET JACK!!!!"

Ballerinas are extremely fascinating. Love their dedication to their art.

They carry all of their weight on the tips of their feet, and it’s said that every time they jump, the big toe absorbs around three times their body weight.

Here’s a glimpse of what the bone structure looks like at these extreme angles.

Here was a discussion several of us had at a get together this weekend.

No firm consensus was established rather a very interesting back and forth.

Our modern society has an arsenal of tranquilizers and pain killers at our disposal, but our expectations of ease and pleasure and our seeming intolerance of inconvenience and discomfort have increased to such an extent that........

"Do we suffer more from pain then our ancestors ever did?"

"Do we suffer more? Or do we run from it more?"

For my students......name that muscle....no Google. Go!!

The marble sculpture of Moses by Michelangelo, created from 1513 to 1515, showcases the artist's exceptional skill in capturing human anatomy. Notably, the tiny muscle in Moses' forearm, which only contracts when lifting the pinky, is visibly tensed in the sculpture. This attention to anatomical precision highlights Michelangelo's mastery.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series on PBS. Highly recommended

Misty, foggy day on the trails from Momma Nature.

Thanks to a colleague for this information.

Disc degeneration (often called Degenerative Disc Disease or DDD) is the gradual wear and tear or breakdown of the intervertebral discs the soft, cushion-like pads between the bones (vertebrae) of your spine.

THOUGHTS FROM MY READING

“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that leads us to either fortune or failure.” —Jim Rohn

Wonderful day with clients.

Very interesting information sent from a colleague.

"Hi Jack,
Thought you’d find this interesting. My good friend in Germany had shoulder replacement surgery on 8 July and this is a device she was prescribed.
She got it today, the 17 of July."

Wonderful day with clients capped off with a visit to Momma Natures trails.

Good info for my active clients

Sometimes tight = tired

It's important to recognize when a runner's perceived muscle tightness is actually the result of fatigue so we can focus on recovery

After client's, hit my weights and TheraBand's.

Before the chow line gets too long......

A huge shout out to a colleague for this information. You're the best my friend.

The quotes from Kapandji and Cailliet are from their books in my library. A must in my opinion.

The cervical spine has an important role in providing the proprioceptive input, and this is reflected in the abundance of cervical mechanoreceptors and their central and reflex connections to the vestibular, visual and central nervous systems

Cervical sagittal alignment (or the alignment of your upper neck and head) affects sensorimotor control and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).

Normal posture is essential for sensorimotor control, potentially because it allows normal processing of afferent information, which goes into the brain.

Our central nervous system is our brain and the spinal cord connecting to every muscle, organ and tissue in the body, of course, so the findings of this study are relevant to everyone.

Conclusions: Participants with FHP exhibited abnormal sensorimotor control and autonomic nervous system dysfunction compared to those with normal head alignment.

“For every inch of Forward Head Posture, it can increase the weight of the head on the spine by an additional 10 pounds.” -Kapandji, Physiology of Joints, Vol. 3 2008.

Dr. Roger Sperry, (Nobel Prize Recipient for Brain Research) demonstrated that 90% of the brain’s energy output is used in relating the physical body to gravity. Only 10% has to do with thinking, metabolism, and healing.

Rene Cailliet M.D., former Director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Southern California states:
“Most attempts to correct posture are directed toward the spine, shoulders and pelvis. All are important, but, head position takes precedence over all others. The body follows the head. Therefore, the entire body is best aligned by first restoring proper functional alignment to the head”
