Travel Medicine NW has for now closed it's door and we will be taking a break and considering how to manage the future. For now I recommend that you call UW Travel if you are going to Asia, South America or Africa as they have the depth of knowledge to assist you in traveling to those destinations safely. Thank you all for the support and participation over many years. I will be doing more traveling myself and assisting tribal nations in building p***c health infrastructure for now.

Oropouche Fever
As of 16 July 2024, 7,688 confirmed cases of Oropouche have been reported in five countries in the Region of the Americas: the Plurinational State of Bolivia (n= 313), Brazil (n= 6,976), Colombia (n= 38), Cuba (n= 74), and Peru (n= 287). During the last quarter, cases of Oropouche have been reported in areas and countries where no autochthonous cases had been previously reported. On July 12th, the Brazil IHR National Focal Point (NFP) informed PAHO/WHO about presumed vertical transmission of Oropouche virus (OROV):

ACIP's updated 2024 Adult Immunization Schedule can be downloaded from the website of the CDC.

The newest additions to the schedule include RSV vaccines, the mpox vaccine (Jynneos), a new MenACWY-MenB combo vaccine (Penbraya), and the new 2023-2024 formulation of updated COVID vaccines (both mRNA and protein-based adjuvanted versions).

Thank you to the people of San Juan County for you kindness and hard work to keep our community safe from so many different challenges over the years. I has been an honor and pleasure to work with so many of you over the years. I will be working with the Lummi, Nooksack and Swinomish Nations going forward to help them expand and build public health capacity. My friend Bipin Lama has the most wonderful place to stay in Nepal. In the Langtang region and right on the Tamang Heritage Trek route. I have been doing yoga there for many years. Others are now staying at the tea house/ lodge in groups to do the same.
