💚What do you love about being a Patient Visitor Volunteer?
"I was nervous, but it’s one of the most loved opportunities I have had at Hospice. From the moment I walked in, the family and I just connected and I felt at home. While my patient would sleep a lot, I loved being there to help get her a drink or just talk to her."
💚What inspired you to get involved with Hospice?
"As my parents were under Hospice, having a person you trust to help for just a couple of hours is amazing and needed. The families are so thankful to just go to the grocery store, or doctors appointments, and I know it’s important for them to be healthy to take care of their loved one."
💚What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering as a Patient Visitor?
"We go into nursing homes and retirement homes, as well, which may be a good fit for someone who is just getting started. Being a family who received Hospice care and also a volunteer I have been on both sides, and I can guarantee there is a place for you to give and to feel comfortable. Visiting with patients is a very important part of the patients journey and a help to the amazing families we serve."
