Jizo-an Zen Community We are a diverse community of people wishing to experience authentic spiritual training.

Our mission is to provide an inclusive, peaceful and sacred Community for contemplation, meditation, mindfulness and Zen Training for the cultivation of a deeper spirituality. Jizo-an Zen Community (formerly Pine Wind Zen Community, The Order of the Great Lights, The Zen Society) was founded in 1985 and guided by Seijaku Roshi until his death in June of 2021. We offer both traditional and innovati

ve ways to engage authentic spirituality through our public events. We are inspired by contemplative traditions including the teachings of the Buddhadharma, the mystical Torah, and the Gospels. We hope to live and share the Dharma (Teachings) of loving-kindness and compassion as conveyed to us by our founder and other teachers, offering the world new forms of kinship and love.

Betsy Gessho Nieves is a lay monk at Jizo-an, and one of the social workers who has worked with Zulemi and her family for the past 4 years. We want to support Zulemi's father, Emir, during this difficult time. Since we can't take away the suffering of losing his only daughter, we wanted to provide some financial assistance with the funeral expenses.

Zulemi had a long history of medical conditions. She was 11 years old in 5th grade at MLK in Atlantic City. She passed away on Wednesday, 11/20, at DuPont Hospital due to medical complications.
