Many people in Anchorage and across Alaska have been impacted by opioid overdoses. Today on International Overdose Awareness Day, we are thinking of all the people who have struggled with opioid addiction, the loved ones who have lost someone special, and the communities working to combat this epidemic.

We invite the Anchorage community to join in events happening over the next few weeks aimed at finding support and reversing overdoses:

▪️ Tonight, August 31st from 6-7pm at the Fairview Recreation Center, learn how to recognize an opioid overdose and administer the life-saving drug naloxone. All participants will receive a free Narcan kit.

▪️ This weekend, Friday, September 1st – Sunday, September 3rd, join the The David Dylan Foundation 2023 Connection Overcomes Addiction event at the Delaney Park Strip from 10am-6pm. There will be resources for detox, treatment, family support, peer-to-peer connection, and grief support.

▪️ On Saturday, September 16th Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is hosting Naloxone Drive-thru Training and Distribution at its campus. Swing on by for a brief, car-side training session on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and administering naloxone. Drive away with a free naloxone kit and the knowledge of how to save a life.
