Our Summer Tree Fort in Avondale just leveled up! 🌟
Our Members got on the Zelda Game Bus for an immersive VR experience thanks to the amazing team at the Georgia T. Lord Library in Goodyear!

From learning the basics, to teaming up for virtual challenges, our crew dove into the worlds of Minecraft, Lego, the NBA and NFL for a day of inclusive tech and action packed gaming. Big shout out to Maricopa County Libraries Maricopa County Library District for giving us the joysticks and the chance to learn, connect, and create! 👇

🌟 From dreaming about getting paid to full independence: meet our very own Mayra! 🌟
When Mayra graduated high school 8 years ago, one of her very first goals was to start making money! Originally joining our LEAF Adult Program, Mayra quickly took her first step into the workforce, working right here at The Opportunity Tree's Phoenix Campus.

She started her career as our Front Desk receptionist greeting visitors, answering calls, leading campus tours, and more with the help of various job coaches, over the course of 3 years. These experiences helped Mayra build her confidence, communication skills, organizational talents, and a strong work ethic, while also developing customer service skills and adaptability to new situations 💼💚.

Based on her resume, skill set and experience, Mayra was offered a job at in 2024 and hasn't looked back👉! With time, practice, and the support of our SEEDS Employment Team, Mayra went from full time on the job supports... to weekly check-ins... to monthly check-ins... to working fully independently in her own community, increasing her hours, and getting more responsibilities 💪✨!

Most recently, Mayra celebrated ONE FULL YEAR of successful competitive integrated employment and we couldn't be more happy for her! 🎉👏

We are also proud to say that Mayra is a founding Member of our SEEDS Employment Services in its current form and that through her work, she’s building a life she’s proud of and paving the way for our other Members to do the same.

July is Disability Pride Month and we're taking time out to recognize and celebrate all of our Members who turn inclusion into action every single day. Meet Cooper — a proud Member of our vibrant Phoenix LEAF adult day program, a highly decorated Fireslammer Special Olympics Athlete and, most importantly, a working man holding down 2 jobs independently in the community! 🌎🔥💼

At The Tree, Cooper is all about saying yes—to life, to new experiences, and to new opportunities to grow and explore. Best of all, our man "Coop" has also met the love of his life... From the moment he met Dalia, they both knew something was different and one year later, they’re engaged and are living proof that when inclusion thrives, connection does too. 💞

We’re proud to share that the new EōS Fireslammers Fitness Center is officially open at our Phoenix campus! Our partners have made this tremendous space possible, that is so much more than just about fitness—it’s about inclusion, confidence, accessibility, and community impact in dynamic and innovative environments. 🌳🌎 We were honored to celebrate this milestone alongside the EōS Senior Leadership Team and with a live ribbon cutting on Good Morning Arizona!

Now, the entire Fireslammer Nation and all of our Members across the Tree have access to an on-site fitness center designed to support movement, strength, and well-being for people of all abilities. Big thank you to EōS Fitness & Gooooo Fireslammers!

🚒 A Day at Quartzsite Fire Department! 🔥
Our Avondale Members headed west to get a firsthand look at life as a Quartzsite Fire District firefighter! 👨‍🚒⛑

We put on the gear, blasted the sirens, learned about different emergency calls, and got a firsthand view of where firefighters sleep, train, and prepare for emergencies day in and day out🚨. We also got to experience Quartzsite's unique charm and personality along the way!

A huge THANK YOU to the town of Quartzite for welcoming us, and to the Quartzsite Fire Department for sharing your world and keeping AZ safe for us all! 🙌

Poetry in Motion! ✍
Maintaining engagement, memory, and emotional connection is a key focus for our Supported Aging Members. One of our favorite therapeutic experiences are our bi-monthly poetry sessions with Evander Hud from Arizona State University & Revisionary Arts, led by Dr. Dombrowski! 📜

Poetry has been shown to help improve mood, reduce anxiety, and activate memory recall; for our Members, these sessions encourage connection, self-expression, creativity, and reflection- one poem at a time. A huge thank you to our community partners for our impactful Poetry in Motion series and drop a 📝 in the comments with your favorite poem for our next session!

All aboard!🚍
Our Phoenix and Avondale crews teamed up with Lillian and Valley Metro to learn how to independently take the bus and the light rail around town! We planned our routes to downtown Phoenix and Tempe Town Lake, got ourselves to our stops on time, swiped our Valley Metro cards to get on, and rolled through the city until we spotted our stops 🚏 🚌 !

Experiences like these are just another example of how we practice real-life skills every day, while connecting with our community and getting where we need to go 🌎. Thank you, Lillian and , for teaching us about the ride; follow us on socials to get on the bus with the Tree 📍🌳!

🌳🔥🏆 Fireslammer Nation: 5 Years Strong! 🌳🔥🏆

This past Friday, the entire Fireslammer Nation descended on our Casa Grande campus to celebrate five monumental years of sweat, spirit, and competitive excellence at the BIGGEST Fireslammers Awards Banquet yet! The pandemonium included trophy presentations, Athlete speeches, lunch of champions, Fireslammer Trivia, dancefloor madness, and more in a gathering of over 200. From our humble beginnings to now, we’ve built more than just a team—we’ve built a movement.
