Disability is the only minority group anyone can become a member of at any time. In fact, if you’re lucky enough to grow old, you will experience some degree of disability.

So think ahead: when it’s your turn, will you want your autonomy, decision-making, and dignity protected?

Let’s make sure disability rights matter to everyone — now.

Read about the life altering impact cuts to Medicaid will have on families.

"Stacy Staggs and her husband Shane sit with Emma, 11, on the front porch. Emma Staggs has bilateral vocal cord paralysis that prohibits her from swallowing or sounding out words, chronic lung disease, developmental delays and other daily health struggles. She survived the first months of her life in the intensive care unit after she was born at 1 pound, 9 ounces. In addition to the formula she needs to survive, Medicaid covers a pulse oximeter, oxygen concentrator, oxygen tanks for travel and a heap of other medical equipment in her North Carolina bedroom."

"If we get to a place where we're no longer eligible, I can start a timer on how much longer Emma will be alive," Stacy Staggs said.
