In Memoriam: Mary Lee Fischer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lee Fischer, one of the esteemed co-founders of our clinic.

Mary Lee's vision, leadership, and dedication were instrumental in establishing the foundation upon which our clinic stands today. From its inception, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring that quality, compassionate care was accessible to all. Her strategic insight, coupled with her ability to inspire those around her, set a standard of excellence that continues to guide our work.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Fischer family and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her. Her legacy endures in the countless lives she touched, the programs she helped to build, and the mission she so passionately championed.

We encourage you to read her obituary which details the many accomplishments and milestones of her remarkable life.

Loved dearly by her close-knit family and friends, Mary Lee Hardesty Fischer quietly passed from this life to the next on August 8; at home and...

Meet Haylee Bailey

Haylee Bailey joined FCC on May 23, 2025, as part of her medical assisting externship through ATA College. At FCC, she plays an essential role in the clinic, working in triage and as a scribe. Her responsibilities include preparing patients for their appointments by gathering vital signs and basic intake information. As a scribe, she sits in during patient visits to accurately document information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Although Haylee didn’t select FCC herself—ATA College arranged the externship placements—she expresses deep gratitude for being placed at such a supportive and enriching site. She especially values the cultural diversity at FCC and the opportunity to connect with patients from all walks of life. Being around other students striving toward their future goals also inspires her.
Outside of her externship, Haylee cherishes time spent with her two children. She loves being a mom and enjoys activities like gymnastics, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
Professionally, Haylee is working toward completing her associate’s degree in radiology at ATA College. Her long-term goal is to earn a bachelor’s degree in science and become a sonographer.
Haylee extends heartfelt thanks to FCC for the training, support, and encouragement she has received. She’s especially appreciative of the professionalism and guidance from the staff, which has helped her grow both personally and professionally.

On June 28th, Dr. Banerjee and his wife, Elaine, graciously hosted a wonderful gathering for our clinic volunteers at their beautiful 113-acre farm, Xanadu. Elaine went above and beyond preparing a delicious spread for everyone, and we are so grateful for the warm hospitality they both extended to us. Despite a few passing storms, about 30 of us gathered and enjoyed a memorable time together at Xanadu.

Meet Rosemary! Rosemary started her volunteer career at FCC in April 2019, only 3 months after retiring from 43 years at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. She started her nursing career in 1977 in the CCU, then transferred to the Cath Lab and was there from 1990-2019.
She is a triage nurse on Mondays and works with Dr. Middleton, Dr. Grimaldi, and Dr. Lippmann.

Rosemary began volunteering at FCC after a friend and colleague told her about the volunteer opportunity. She enjoys Mondays because of the employees, volunteers, and patients. Outside of FCC, she and her husband David are parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They are both involved with the church. They both love to sing, they were former enthusiastic members of award-winning barbershop quartets and choruses. They harmonize together singing the beautiful hymns at mass every Sunday. Rosemary says her husband is a wonderful cook. She has three dogs, two Bichons and a Maltese. She enjoys spending time with her stepdaughter Lauren and Lauren’s husband Soheil.
Rosemary plans on continuing to volunteer at the clinic. She also volunteers with Honor Flight Bluegrass.

She enjoys speaking and demonstrating to younger and new medical/healthcare students. She says she has ā€œfound a new love, so to speak, being, at times, their ā€œshadowā€/teacher at the clinic, helping and instructing, but most of all giving lots of encouragement and praise!ā€ She believes that the years of nursing experience gives her the confidence and the green light to bestow upon those students that ā€œgood ol’ practical education.ā€
