Kindred Spirits Therapy Minis

Kindred Spirits Therapy Minis We are a 501(3)c organization dedicated to improving the health and well being of children and adults I have had horses and often people ask to come see them.

I have always loved horses, Id say "I get it honest" from my mother. I decided to bring my horses to those that Cannot readily get out and come to my farm. I quickly discovered the big 1200lb guy as loving as he is offers some hurdles. One evening I was following the progress of one Miniature horse Therapy group, and the idea was born but I wanted to the joy of training my own Mini to see the prog

ress to have that bond myself. Again one evening I seen my first Mini Picasso, there he was in some "feed lot" waiting for man to determine his fate I could not help but be drawn to this little guy and he had to come to FL. So- $$$ exchanged hands travel was arranged and he was on his way. A year later I have trained him and taken him to several locations in our Community wanting to take things slowly as he too needed to heal from his ordeal at the auction houses and feed lots. I am happy to say he has become the sweet loving little guy I knew he desperately wanted to be. So- here we are we now have two Minis and we are moving forward into obtaining our 501 to open more doors and from there "Sky's the Limit"!!!

15 Fascinating Facts About the Horse's Heart and Its Emotional Connection with Humans:

The heart of an average adult horse weighs about 4–5 kg — nearly 10 times heavier than a human heart.

A horse's resting heart rate is around 28–40 beats per minute, but it can rise up to 240 during stress or intense activity.

The horse's heart is incredibly powerful — it can pump over 60 liters of blood per minute during running.

Human emotions can affect a horse's heart rate. Studies show that horses "read" human moods and mirror them.

During calm interaction, the heart rates of the human and horse can synchronize — a phenomenon known as bioelectrical resonance.

Horses sense a person's presence even before physical contact — their heart reacts to energy changes nearby.

A horse's heart generates a strong electromagnetic field, capable of transmitting emotional signals to other horses and even people.

Horses have a highly developed parasympathetic system, allowing them to calm down quickly in a safe environment.

A handler’s anxiety or fear can trigger stress in the horse — even if no real threat is present.

During cuddling or quiet companionship, a horse’s heartbeat slows down — a clear sign of trust.

Young horses experience emotional “storms” more frequently — much like humans, their hearts and nervous systems are still developing.

Trauma can leave an "emotional imprint" on a horse's heartbeat, even long after physical recovery.

Horses have the ability for emotional healing — kind and caring human contact can stabilize their heartbeat.

The horse’s heart is often seen as a symbol of deep intuition — horses can "feel" intentions before a word is spoken.

Scientific studies confirm that the emotional bond between human and horse is not a myth — it's a real physiological interaction of hearts, which can even have healing effects

🤍 When your heart is broken — words no longer heal.
People fall silent. The world feels heavy like stone.
And your soul just wants... to be.

That’s when someone appears…
Someone who asks for nothing.
Someone who simply stands beside you. Quietly.

A horse doesn’t need explanations.
He doesn’t need your smile.
He isn’t afraid of your tears.
He just walks —
and with every step,
you begin to breathe again.

Because the truth is,
there’s no better place to heal a broken heart
than on the back of a horse.

Here are 15 interesting facts about horses' brain:

1. Horses' brain is relatively small compared to the size of their body and accounts for only about 0.1% of its total weight.
2. Despite their small size, horses have very complex brains, with a highly developed cerebral cortex, the part of the brain responsible for conscious thought, decision-making and memory.
3. Horses can learn and remember complex tasks, such as navigating a jump course or performing a dressage routine, through a process called associate learning.
4. Like humans, horses have a left hemisphere and a right hemisphere in the brain, each with specialized functions.
The left hemisphere is responsible for the processing of logical and analytical information, while the right hemisphere is more involved in emotional processing and creative thinking.
5. Horses have a great memory and can remember specific people, places and experiences for many years.
6. Horses can learn by observation and often they can acquire new behaviors and skills simply by observing other horses or humans.
7. Horses have a very sensitive sense of touch and can detect even the slightest pressure or movement on their skin. This helps them responding to subtle cues from your rider or guide.
8. Horses can process visual information very quickly and accurately, allowing them to avoid potential hazards and navigate their environment with ease.
9. Horses are social animals and rely on nonverbal communication to interact with other horses in their herd.
This communication is facilitated by the horse’s brain, which can interpret subtle changes in body language, facial expressions and vocalizations.
10. Ultimately, like all animals, horses have a unique personality and individual traits that are shaped by their experiences, genetics and environment—all of which is reflected in their brain function and behavior.
11. Horses have a very strong sense of smell and their odor bulb, which processes smells, is relatively large compared to other parts of their brain.
12. The brain, which is responsible for coordinating movement and balance, is also relatively large in horses. This is because horses must be able to move quickly and efficiently to escape predators or navigate through difficult terrain.
13. Horses have a very high pain threshold, which is believed to be related to how their brains process pain signals.
While this can be beneficial in some situations, it can also mean that horses may not show obvious signs of pain, making it harder for their caregivers to detect and treat underlying health issues.
14. The hippocampus, a part of the brain involved in learning and memory, is particularly well developed in horses.
This allows them to remember not only specific experiences, but also general concepts and patterns that they can apply to new situations.
15. Finally, studies have shown that horses, like other animals, are capable of experiencing emotions such as fear, happiness, and anger. These emotions are believed to be mediated by the limbic system, a group of interconnected brain structures that play a key role in regulating mood and behavior.

**Silent Hooves: A Remembrance for the War Horses**
Silent hooves on the battlefield, lost in time’s gray mist,
Ghostly shapes of courage, in every gallop, every twist.
Eyes wide with loyalty, hearts fierce and true,
They carried soldiers’ burdens, like heroes born anew.

Beneath the roar of cannon fire, in mud and cold and dread,
These valiant steeds, with noble hearts, pressed onward, bravely led.
Through endless fields of suffering, they thundered without pause,
Their only bond a silent vow, their loyalty the cause.

Forgotten in the pages, just shadows in the dust,
Yet still they ride in memory, their duty wrought in trust.
The reins they wore, the saddles borne, no longer weigh them down—
Now free to roam in endless fields, untouched by war’s dark crown.

Today we stand in silence, for warriors lost and gone,
Yet remember too the gallant steeds who helped to carry on.
In solemn thanks we bow our heads, for lives lost in the fight—
Both man and beast, remembered here, in morning’s softest light.

Silent hooves on distant hills, beyond our earthly pain,
We hear their echo softly now, like distant drops of rain.
So let us keep their memory, those souls so brave and strong—
For in the fields of memory, they ride forever on.
