Hello dear clients. At this holiday season I know it seems a little weird to discuss trauma in regards to bodywork, but I have heard stories over the past 21 years and worked with clients who have it, want to understand it, want to not be controlled by it. This is a tall order which requires professional psychological support, a tribe with which you can relate, communicate with, and be vulnerable around, the medical establishment and their medicines, alternative healthcare and it's different medicine, and a lot of courage.
As someone with CPTSD (Complex PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder, 17 surgeries, a broken neck, among other things, I am familiar with trauma on many levels.
Bodywork can be a very effective addition to all the measures I stated above. Reminding your nervous system where home is, where the "soft" lives, where rest and repair are the order of the day. As a species, we have traveled far away from ourselves. In this holiday season, consider giving yourself the gift of experiencing, rest, and integration. Your muscles will be positively affected, your pain can decrease, your awareness can become more finely tuned, and you can become empowered in body, mind, and spirit.
If you are experiencing acute trauma, please feel free to always know you can reach out to me. I have many, many referrals of MDs, DCs, LMTs, PhDs, PTs, MSWs, and every letter you can think of. You do not have to live in fear alone. Come let me reintroduce you to yourself.
