🏀💙 Today we had a special visitor at the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, pediatric location — University of Louisville basketball player Spencer Legg!

As someone living with type 1 diabetes, Spencer is a true inspiration for young athletes. He toured the institute and spent time with our team, including Dr. Thrasher and Dr. Wintergerst, to learn more about the work we’re doing to help kids, teens and adults thrive with T1D.

Big swings and even bigger smiles! 🏌️‍♂️ Ahead of the ISCO Championship, PGA TOUR pros took a break from the big course to hit the putt-putt green with patients at the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute. ⛳💙

These young athletes got expert tips and shared laughs — all while learning how to stay active and thrive with diabetes. We’re proud to be the official charitable partner of the ISCO Championship and grateful for a day that was truly a hole in one!

We're proud to highlight Aurelia C. Wood, M.D., FAAP, a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist with Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, a part of Norton Children's, who brings exceptional expertise in diabetes care to our community.

Dr. Wood's innovative approach to pediatric endocrinology includes co-creating the Diabetes and School Health (DASH) Program, an enhanced care coordination initiative supporting families, school staff and students with Type 1 diabetes in educational settings, during her tenure at Nationwide Children's.

Her clinical focus centers on community-facing efforts that promote healthcare literacy and self-efficacy, particularly for children and adolescents with Type 1 diabetes and patients affected by healthcare disparities.

Dr. Wood's dedication to bridging the gap between clinical care and real-world diabetes management makes her an invaluable addition to our pediatric endocrinology team.

The ISCO Championship is an official FedExCup event on the PGA TOUR schedule. The 2025 tournament will take place at Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, KY. The golf course encompasses 243 acres and was originally designed by Chick Adams.
