Description:

Additionally, the session offers an in-depth look at Charles Schaefer’s 20 tenets of the therapeutic powers of play therapy, providing a comprehensive framework to enhance therapists' approaches in various clinical contexts.
As a play therapist and play therapist supervisor, the thereafter powers of play have been a wonderful guide in assessing, observing, and creating treatment plans and notes with clients. I look forward to having you at this interactive training.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the therapeutic powers of play as defined by Charles Schaefer.
2. Discuss ways and strategies for the therapist to integrate therapeutic play elements effectively across different play therapy settings.

Adoption is a lifelong process. There are many issues that can arise over time for the adoptee, birth family and adoptive parents that can create ethical dilemmas for professionals who are trying to best preserve the rights of each party. In this session Sabra Starnes who herself is an adoption professional, adoptive parent, therapist and adult adoptee who has experience a closed adoption will explore the current and past laws in the United States related to accessing identifying information in closed adoptions. Sabra will share some of the factors that must be considered by professionals who are supporting the triad to navigate the process with each member ethically and effectively. Special focus will be placed on the ethical responsibility that adoption workers have to support the adoptee through this emotional journey.
