Dr. Emma Mitchell is thrilled to be joining the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic team! A Charlotte native, she earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology while competing as a Division I volleyball player at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She went on to complete both her Doctor of Chiropractic degree and Master’s in Exercise Science at Parker University in Dallas, Texas.
Emma’s passion for chiropractic is personal—after a sports injury in her own athletic career, chiropractic care changed her life and inspired her to dedicate her future to helping others heal. She looks forward to giving back by providing the same care and support that once helped her.
Outside the office, you can usually find Dr. Mitchell flowing through a yoga class, watching classic horror movies, or hanging out with her dog, Roo. She’s fired up to share her love for chiropractic with her new community and looks forward to making a difference—one adjustment at a time.
Welcome to the Atlas family Dr Emma!

Since 1995, Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic has grown steadily and has expanded throughout Raleigh, NC due to the uniqueness of our clinic. Our doctors hold board certification in the Atlas Orthogonal Technique with advanced proficiency ratings in Activator Methods. What does this mean for you? We use gentle techniques through the use of instruments, which is founded on principles of physics and math. We also utilize cold laser therapy, which is a cutting-edge non-invasive technology for treating soft tissue injuries.
What makes our techniques so different is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system coordinates all bodily functions. Spine misalignment results in nervous system dysfunction, spinal decay, and other maladies. We use a precise, gentle, low-force percussion instrument to adjust the first cervical vertebra to help restore the spine to a more normal position. That means our technique produces no popping in the joints of the spine.
We treat patients of all ages as well. We strive to give you the best service, which includes making considerations for your personal finances. We want all of our patients to feel like their best self, and we’ll work with you to help you achieve that goal. Also, we always listen to our patients’ needs and never pressure you into any type of treatment plan. We provide you with education and let you make your health decisions based on your needs.

Dr. Adam Austin, D.C., B.C.A.O.
Dr. Adam is a board-certified Atlas Orthogonist and has advanced proficiency rating in the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique. His interest in the chiropractic field came after searching for a health care profession as a high school student andexposure to several chiropractors and their belief systems about health and wellness happened to resonate with his values. Undergraduate study at the University of Michigan included biomechanics, motor control, and exercise physiology. Study at the Life University College of Chiropractic helped develop a professional background rooted in a fundamental tenet: Chiropractic first, drugs second and surgery last. His current technique certifications are focused on facilitating the body’s innate ability to heal itself with minimal intervention. Dr. Adam’s mission includes providing quality chiropractic care while sharing a health paradigm based on vitalistic principles and implementing those same principles in his own life. He joined Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic in 2004.

Dr. Ali Volpe, D.C.
Dr. Ali is an Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor with training in the Activator technique. She relocated from Bellingham, WA, to attend the esteemed Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, where she obtained her doctoral degree. Dr. Ali has a personal connection to chiropractic in which her mother’s life was saved by the Atlas Orthogonal Technique. Her mom was involved in a minor car accident, which caused a whiplash injury, and she began to develop debilitating symptoms that ultimately resulted in losing her vision. After just one atlas adjustment she could see again, and through treatment was able to get her life back. This powerful experience is what helped Dr. Ali decide to devote her career to helping others through this technique. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her black lab and traveling to new places.
