We often live in the tension that life has us in. There are times when how we walk into the future with God isn’t going to be like how we have walked in the past with God. It’s not necessarily because God has changed, but because life has changed.

We come alongside others, and sometimes we may use words. But we can always offer our presenc, even when we don’t have something to say. There is something courageous and powerful about saying, “I am here. I don’t have all the answers. I can’t make pain go away. But I can keep showing up.”

Our collected tears become a witness to all those around us that God is on the move. It will also inspire us to live. God enters into our pain. God‘s grace gets lower than our lowest low. And the day will come when God wipes all our tears away and all things will be right.

Grieves have stories to tell. They need to know their story is unique, because God has made them unique. Stay curious. Don’t anticipate. Come alongside others. Walk with people through the intersections. Live intentionally.

Exploring ways to express connection while also acknowledging that each person’s story is unique can generate healthy dialogue, and meaningful moments. There are multiple ways to express that there is a connection made through walking painful journeys. Explore phases that keep us curious and unique.

Every story is unique. There are stages of grief, and we all move through those stages at different paces. One person may be in denial stage for six weeks, while someone else moves through denial in a day or two. Don’t anticipate. Stay curious. Allow others to feel their way along the journey.

Anger might be a step we take, but don’t let it be where we stop. Go deeper. Anger is a secondary emotion that needs to reveal something else… God has no desire to leave us in our anger. God intends to transform it into an expression that will ultimately change the world. Truth!
