Hot Car Safety Tip: Use a Reminder

Even the best parents can forget when routines change. Set a reminder to help keep your child safe:

✅ Put your phone, purse, or shoe in the back seat
✅ Set an alarm on your phone
✅ Place a stuffed animal in the front seat when your child is in the back

A simple habit can save a life.

🕊️ July is National Bereaved Parents Month 🕊️

This month, we honor and hold space for parents who carry the deep pain of losing a child. Whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or the passing of a child at any age - grief has no timeline and love never ends. 💔

To all bereaved parents: your strength in the face of unimaginable loss is seen, your love is remembered, and your child’s life- however long or short - matters deeply. 🌸

Here are a few gentle tips for those walking this journey or supporting someone who is:

💛 For Bereaved Parents:

Allow yourself to grieve at your own pace. There is no "right" way to mourn.

Create a memory space to honor your child: light a candle, plant a tree, or journal your thoughts.

Lean on trusted friends, support groups, or therapists who understand the path you're on.

Speak your child's name. Their memory deserves to live on.

💙 For Friends and Family:

Say their child’s name. Acknowledge the loss.

Offer to listen without trying to “fix” the pain.

Don’t avoid the topic because your presence means more than perfect words ever could.

Remember important dates (birthdays, anniversaries) and check in.

Let’s be a community of compassion. Grief is not something to be cured but with love and support, it can be carried.

Happy National Home Visiting Week to our teams of amazing home visitors! 🩷 🌷

🎉This week, we’re shining a bright light on the heart of Healthy Start, the incredible Home Visitors & the Program Directors that lead them!

They are so much more than home visitors--they are moms, dads, childbirth educators, doulas, and proud members of our community. Every day, they bring not only professional support, but lived experience, compassion, and deep commitment to the families they serve. Their impact is immeasurable!

Thank you for all you do to help our families grow stronger and healthier. Moms, dads & babies in our five counties thank you ALL for what you do everyday! We see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you this week and always!🩷💚🩷💚

Chipola Healthy Start Coalition Inc

We are a community based, non-profit organization focused on improving the health and well being of pregnant women, their infants and children. Chipola Healthy Start was established in 1991 to service Jackson, Washington, Holmes, Calhoun and Liberty Counties.

Any mom can have a condition that would put her baby at risk for being born too soon or too small. When you answer a few questions on the Healthy Start Risk Screen at your first prenatal visit and at the hospital when your baby is born, you give your baby a better chance at a healthy start. When you say yes to Healthy Start, services can be provided to you in the comfort of your own home, at the Healthy Start program office in your county, or at another place of your choosing. You may qualify for services from Healthy Start no matter what your income level is. Participation is voluntary and you can stop services whenever you want.

Services in your county may include:

*Home or office visits with your personal care coordinator *Car seat safety & education *Early Child development screenings & education *Safe sleep education *Breastfeeding education & support *Childbirth education *Parenting education & support *Nutritional guidance *Info on choosing child care providers *Father services *Family planning info & resources *Help to quit smoking *Transportation info *Counseling (perinatal and postpartum depression) *Screening for signs of postpartum depression *Information for help with substance abuse *Linkage to community resources
