Honored, humbled and grateful for this award from the Asian Business League.

We received the Community Leader of the Year award for the impact we are having in mental health. This is especially important in underserved communities like Asians.

According to NAMI, compared to those of other racial/ethnic backgrounds, Asian americans are least likely to receive mental health treatment - only 20.8% of Asian adults with a mental illness received treatment in 2020.

This year, we helped our community’s domestic abuse survivors, employees and leaders working tirelessly for their companies through a recession, students dealing with uncertain times, and maternal care for new mothers.

We couldn’t be more proud of the impact we are having.

OOTify won Community Leader of the Year last night. We are humbled and grateful for the honor.

Juneteenth is not a day, it’s a movement.

June 19th, 1865, was the day when enslaved Black people in Texas, the last state in the Confederacy, were told they were in fact “free.”

It marks the final seal to the end of the Civil and abolishment of slavery. Juneteenth is dedicated to celebrate the emancipation of those who have been enslaved. It’s central to Black American mental health and well-being because it’s defined by Black humanity and liberation.

Here are some things we can do to continue honoring its significance and help safeguard and celebrate that humanity.

Listen to Black Voices | Learn about Black liberation from authentic Black voices. Gaining perspective is an expression of reverence for the experience lived by the community.

Respect Black Spaces | It’s important to remember that supporting Black mental health means not dominating or appropriating Black voices and spaces.

Learn Your History | Work to fill the significant gaps in our knowledge of American history. Seek educational opportunities that will challenge your understanding and beliefs as they relate to race in America.

As collective, we can support the mental wellness of the Black American community by continuing to lift their voices and needs.
