Looking for a delicious plant-based treat? These crispy chickpea patties are packed with flavor and perfect for any meal! 🥙✨
Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz / 400g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (30g) chickpea flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 1/4 cup (30g) breadcrumbs or panko
- 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil (for frying)
- 2 tbsp (30ml) water (if needed)
Directions:
1. Start by tossing the chickpeas, finely chopped onion, and minced garlic into a food processor. Pulse them until the mixture is slightly chunky, not pureed.
2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add in the chickpea flour, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, lemon zest, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. If it feels too dry, mix in a bit of water until it reaches a workable consistency.
3. Now, it's time to shape your patties! Form small patty shapes and place them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to firm up. This will help them hold together while cooking.
4. Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Once it’s hot, add the patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden and crispy.
5. Serve your delightful patties warm with a fresh salad or drizzled with tahini sauce for an extra burst of flavor.
