We have two last minute spots available for this retreat. So if I were you, a pastoral leader, I would clear my schedule and make this happen! Come rest and reset with us! You just get there, and we will take care of the rest. This is only for folks who KNOW they can commit to being with us this whole time: Thursday evening to Saturday midday. If you’re interested but can’t make these dates work, email us to get on the wait list for the next event.

We hope to see you there!

Can I tell yall something? I did NOT feel ready to start this semester. The summer was not the restful and restorative downtime I imagined it would be. This week won’t be the kind of week that I typically like to start my semester with. But here’s what I know: you don’t have to be perfectly ready to show up and have an impact. Everything doesn’t have to go exactly your way for the plan to be carried out. And when you’re walking in a call, God will meet you right in the places where you believe you don’t have enough. I’ve got a plan to plant some “wells” in every week, so I’m not worried about getting to empty. After meeting my amazing scholars for the semester and being reminded who I am and why I’m here, I’m ready to get to work! 💪🏾

I’m excited to share that effective July 1, I have been promoted to Associate Professor of Psychology at VCU. I am deeply grateful to work with such amazing students and colleagues, and to be able to do meaningful work that I love! I don’t take it lightly that I am in a place that recognizes and celebrates the fullness of my professional identity. Higher education is not without its challenges, especially now. But it’s for this reason and many others that it’s so so important to celebrate milestones like these! 🎉🎊🥳

The second installment of Raising Faithful Kids is forthcoming! I am really grateful to have been one of the editors for these two resources. As I parent, I know the thought and energy we spend wondering about how to help our children grow into their full potential. As a believer, I know that our faith is a messy web of questions, curiosities, and uncertainties. As a psychologist, I know that moments in childhood are the building blocks for healthy, thriving adult lives. These resources speak to ALL of those realities. They don’t give you a bunch of answers, but they might convince you that you don’t need them 😉 We hope you’ll check them out and share with everyone you know who loves and cares about kids! Grateful for an enriching time at inaugural ATS Trauma and Spirituality conference. I don’t have many pictures with colleagues because I was on the planning team and being present, but I chose slow instead of fast for my travel plans and have been able to take in some of the beauty of Pasadena! I’m excited about the connections made and what we’ve gotten started. The work continues.

.thema is such a gift! Today the team got to spend time with her before she preached “A Call to the Wild” at community formation. She shared SOO much, so check out the live stream. But this statement will stick with me: The question is not what were you freed from. It’s what were you freed to do?
