Luis and Erica didn’t always get along.

Their relationship ended years ago, but their son, Mateo, never stopped needing both of them.

After a particularly tense stretch, their therapist recommended BeH2O®—a structured co-parenting program to reduce conflict and improve communication.

They agreed.
They were both tired of the stress.
They wanted peace.
They wanted Mateo to stop hearing his name used like ammunition.

For the first time in a long time, they were on the same page.
They were ready.

But when they called to register, we had to tell them:

“The program is 16 weeks—22 hours of live coaching and instruction.
It’s $1,750 per parent.
It’s court-approved, but not court-funded.”

They paused.

They asked if one of them could take it alone.
If they could split the cost.
If they could wait until tax season.

We’ve heard those questions before.
And far too often, we have to say:

“We want to help. But until funding comes through, we have to ask families to pay.”

But this time, we got to say something different.

“Yes. We can help.
A generous donor who believes in BeH2O has stepped forward to sponsor 18 parents—and you qualify.”

Relief. Gratitude. Momentum.

Luis and Erica aren’t high-conflict anymore.
They’re just low-income.
And the system doesn’t always make room for that kind of progress.

But a donor did.

💧 Yes to co-parents who are trying.
💧 Yes to those who want to model respect.
💧 Yes to kids like Mateo who are watching it all.

This is what it looks like when we can say yes.

Five stories. Five families.
One week of real-life roadblocks—and the power of generosity to change the ending.

Will you help us say yes to the next family who calls?

Benita and Harold never expected to parent again.

Their son, Darren, was struggling—unstable job history, untreated depression, and poor choices that added up.
He lost custody of his daughter, Lani, after a heated exchange with her mom that landed him in court.

The judge ordered supervised parenting time.
Darren moved in with them—Benita and Harold—while he tried to get back on his feet.

Lani was just 6.
She adored her grandparents.
And they had been a constant in her life since birth.

But when Darren was ordered to attend parenting time , they learned something they weren’t prepared for they were not a part order:

“Grandparents can only be included if the order permits, or the parents agree. Mom and Dad do not agree to you being included in Dad's time.
If you want to see her too, it has to be without Dad and supervised—and it costs $65/hour.”

Benita gasped. Harold pulled out a notepad and started doing math.

They were retired. Living on a fixed income.
And suddenly, the only way to stay connected to their granddaughter was to come up with money they simply didn’t have.

They asked about options. Scholarships. Sliding scale.

We had to say:

“We wish we could help. We’re waiting on funding too.”

They didn’t ask for custody.
They didn’t ask to raise their granddaughter.
They just wanted to stay in her life—and support their son in healing.

But instead, they wait.

So does Lani.

💧 We want to say yes to Benita.
💧 Yes to Harold.
💧 Yes to Darren, who’s doing the work.
💧 And yes to Lani, who deserves to stay connected to the people who love her.

But we can’t say yes unless someone helps us open the door.

Tameka thought leaving would be the hardest part.

She spent years walking on eggshells—managing moods, hiding bruises, trying to give her kids some version of “normal.”
When she finally left, she thought that was the beginning of peace.

She got an apartment. A steady job at the daycare.
She was doing everything the court asked.
Everything… except she couldn’t afford the next step.

After a conflict during an exchange, the judge ordered supervised parenting time.
She was told to enroll in the BeH2OÂŽ co-parenting program.
And she called 4 Families, ready to do whatever it took.

But we had to tell her:

“The intake is $100.
Supervised parenting time is $65/hour.
BeH2O® is $1,750.”

Tameka was quiet on the line.
Then she said:

“I’m doing everything they told me to do.
I just can’t afford to prove it.”

She didn’t need a shortcut.
She didn’t ask for pity.
She needed a door that wasn’t locked by her income.

We want to say yes.
We’re ready to say yes.
But right now, we can’t.

Not because the family isn’t ready.
Because the funding isn’t there.

Tameka is still waiting.
So are her kids.

And so are we—hoping someone reading this will help us finally say:

💧 Yes to supervised parenting time
💧 Yes to co-parenting support
💧 Yes to healing that doesn’t come with a price tag

If you’re able to give—or know someone who is—please share this.
We’re turning over every stone right now.

But we need help.

Collin used to think his dad was a park ranger.

Every night, they’d build pillow forts in the living room.
He and his baby sister Callie would crawl on all fours—she a giraffe, he a lion—while Dad led them through the “wilderness.”
It was silly. Safe. Sacred.

But slowly, the play stopped.

Marcus was working longer hours. Julia, their mom, was holding everything else—bedtime, meltdowns, the weight of doing it alone.
Words got shorter. Tempers grew longer.
And one night, Collin held Callie tight as they crouched behind the playroom door, listening to voices crack and rise.

Julia filed for divorce.
The court ordered supervised parenting time.
BeH2OÂŽ was recommended. So was therapy.
The structure was there. The path was clear.
But the cost? It was out of reach.

Marcus had moved into a small apartment.
He was paying child support. Maintenance. Groceries. Gas. Guilt.
When he called to ask about reconnecting with his kids, we had to tell him:

“The intake is $100.
Supervised parenting time is $65/hour.
BeH2O® is $1,750.”

He hung up.

Not because he didn’t care.
Because he couldn’t afford to care the way he wanted to.

Julia felt alone.
Marcus felt broken.
And Collin and Callie? They felt abandoned.

Not because anyone gave up.
Because no one showed them the way back.

💧 Yes to supervised parenting time
💧 Yes to co-parenting support through BeH2O®
💧 Yes to therapy so Dad could show up calm, not ashamed

That’s what your donation makes possible.

We are at a pivotal moment.
Dozens of families—just like Marcus and Julia’s—are waiting.
We have the tools. We have the team.
What we don’t have is the funding to say yes to everyone who calls.

So this Tuesday, take a quiet minute in thought.

Imagine this was your child.
Your grandchild.
Your story.

And ask:
💙 What would it mean to help someone stay connected to the people who need them most?

You can be the one who says yes.

💙 If you’re in a position to help, please don’t wait.
And if you’re not, please share. You never know who might be able to.

“I was told I had to pay to see my children.”
Jillian never imagined her rock bottom would come with a price tag.

She was a third-grade teacher.
A proud mom of three—Franklin (5), Phoebe (3), and baby Sam.
But after Sam was born, things changed.

Child care was too expensive. Jillian left her job.
Postpartum depression crept in, quietly at first.
Then her father died. And with him, the one person who always made her feel grounded.

She tried to smile through it—for the kids, for Justin (her husband), for herself.
But the house grew tense.
Justin felt ignored. Jillian felt invisible.
Money was tight. And the silence between them turned into shouting.

One night, they tried to reconnect.
A rare night out. A glass of wine. A broken moment.
Their teenage babysitter saw too much and panicked.

Soon after, Justin filed for a protection order.
Jillian was ordered out of the home.
And the only way to see her children again was through supervised parenting time.

She called, heart in her throat, ready to do whatever it took.
We had to tell her:

“There’s an intake fee.
Each session is $65.
And the BeH2O® co-parenting program is $1,750.”

She was living with her grieving mother.
She didn’t have a job.
And now, she couldn’t afford to see her children.

She hung up. Not angry. Not outraged.
She just cried.

There are no villains in this story.
Just a mother in pain.
A system with rules but no grace.
And three children wondering where their mom went.

We’re seeing more families like Jillian’s every day.
We have the structure. The team. The tools.
What we need now is the support to say yes.

💧 Yes to supervised parenting time
💧 Yes to co-parenting support
💧 Yes to therapy and real healing

We’ve been awarded $162,000 in Kansas Community Service Tax Credits (CSTC) —a powerful tool that allows qualifying founding donors to double their impact and halve their tax burden.

With your support, we’ll serve hundreds more families just like Jillian’s—families who are ready to do the work but simply cannot afford the door fee.

🌀 SUNDAY REFLECTION: Could You Do It?

Could you stay connected to your children
if every hour of parenting time cost $65?

Could you rebuild trust
if you were told to do it without tools?

Could you heal
without access to therapy, support, or structure?

Because that’s what we ask of so many families—quietly, and far too often.

They’re not failing.
They’re navigating a system with more barriers than bridges.
And even when they’re ready to do the work, they can’t afford the door fee.

⸝

The Layne Project 4 Families is serving families in crisis—offering supervised parenting time, trauma-informed therapy, and the BeH2O® co-parenting program to help reduce conflict and restore connection.

We have the staff. We have the structure.
But without funding, we can’t say yes to the next family who calls.

⸝

Tomorrow, we begin sharing five powerful composite stories—built from the very real experiences of families who are waiting for someone to say yes.

💙 If you’re in a position to help, please don’t wait.
And if you’re not, please share. You never know who might be able to.

🌀 Before the Shouting Started
Before the yelling...
There were bedtime stories.
Bubble baths.
Tiny hands on cheeks.
Backyard picnics and muddy knees.

Before the paperwork…
There was, “We’re pregnant.”
There was, “We’ll figure it out.”
There was hope.

At The Layne Project 4 Families, we meet families who never thought they’d end up here—
In court.
In conflict.
In pain.

This next week, we’ll be sharing composite stories based on the families we serve—stories that reflect the very real crossroads many parents face.

And here’s the truth:
We have the tools. We have the structure. We even have trained staff waiting.
What we don’t have is enough funding to say yes to every parent who calls.

💙 If you've ever struggled, or watched someone you love try to keep their family together—you know what it means to have someone say yes.

This week, you can be that someone.

💛 Piece by piece, we’re helping families rebuild. Now we need your piece of the story.

We have been gifted a remarkable foundation: $733,000 in infrastructure—technology, tools, and systems that work.

Now, we need your help to power it forward.

We’re working to raise $20,000/month so we can:
• Increase services by 60%
• Offer reduced-cost or free support to families in crisis
• Bring stability, healing, and dignity to co-parents and children—piece by piece.

This Fourth of July, we’re reminded:
Freedom isn’t just personal—it’s generational.
Families deserve the freedom to rebuild.
Kids deserve the freedom to grow up unburdened by conflict.

💔 Children don't get to opt out of conflict.
When co-parents are at odds, kids live in the middle. Between homes. Between truths. Between two people they love.

In BeH2OÂŽ, we start by asking parents to do one thing:
Step into their child’s shoes.
Because when you really feel what it’s like in the middle, you show up differently.

This video features real words from real children.
And a simple truth:
Alignment doesn’t begin with agreement. It begins with empathy.
