The Gift of Purpose and Hope will last a life time.
Philippians: 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interest of others.
Presents will be given out all around the world to people during Christmas. Most will give pleasure for a day and then be forgotten.
Give someone the gift of purpose with hope attached to it. They will forever be thankful for what you did.
Remember, it’s the unseen gifts like faith, hope, and love that have the greater value.
I recall a young lady walking into my office, with tears in her eyes many years ago. She asked if I could find her another job.
Men in her department were harassing and bullying her. She was a trained electrician requiring her to work with men.
I knew she had lost hope and needed a new purpose to get back on track. We talked about training. She had graduated from a local technical school.
At the time I had no other openings without additional schooling.
I asked if she would be willing to take evening classes to broaden her qualifications.
She was reluctant at first for lack of money, until I let her know the company would pay for the schooling.
She took my advice and starting evening and night classes to get the required courses.
Five years later I saw her at the company’s annual Invention Awards Banquet. She was wearing a business suit, not her usual belt with all the electrical tools.
I approached her with caution, not knowing if this was the same lady, to offer a congratulatory hand shake for a patent she was to receive.
I offered a hand shake but she said I don’t want a hand shake, I want a hug, letting me know how much she appreciated my gift of purpose and hope that had changed her life.
She is now Quality Control Manager over the men who harassed and bullied her.
To say the least, I was humbled and honored.
Remember, there is no cost for gifts like faith, hope and love that will give someone purpose.
