Expect compassion from yourself, rather than perfection.
It seems to me that whenever we expect perfection or wait to be perfect at something before we start, it sets us up to never begin or to feel ashamed once we do. Both of which limit our willingness to start anything or take steps towards our dreams. The need for perfection makes us afraid. Self-compassion makes us resilient. It allows for mistakes and makes creativity possible. When we start with compassion, life can be playful, and mistakes become an inherent part of our learning and growing. That's been an important life lesson for me. Every new beginning is a risk. Why do it? Well, because it keeps us growing and makes life interesting.
What do you think about this? How's your self-compassion? Is that an easy place for you to go, or is negative self-talk too loud a voice? LMK
