🌟 Meet Madison Ruth, DPT! 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Madison Ruth, a dedicated Physical Therapist joining our team here at Simple Strokes Therapy! Madison brings a wealth of experience in Aquatic Therapy, Neuro-developmental Treatment, Toe-walking, Torticollis, Adaptive Equipment Management, and working with children with Autism and Developmental Delay. She’s also eager to expand her expertise with future certifications in Serial Casting, AquaStretch, and TASES!

Madison’s favorite part of her job? Collaborating with an amazing team to provide the best possible care! She thrives in our supportive environment and loves jumping into spontaneous co-treats and fun activities with her peers.

Outside of work, Madison enjoys weekend trips, baking, and sipping a Caramel Macchiato on the porch. She’s also a fan of Poppi, Coke Zero, chocolate-covered pretzels, and Nerds gummies—because a good snack makes everything better!

Handwriting isn't just about holding a pencil—it's about building strength, coordination, and fine motor skills that support a child's overall development. Did you know that core and back strength play a crucial role in handwriting? 💪

A strong core helps kids maintain proper posture and stability, which in turn allows them to focus on forming letters with precision. Without core strength, it’s harder to keep the body balanced, making it tough to sit and write for extended periods.

✨ 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜:

Encourage kids to write or draw on a vertical surface, like a chalkboard, whiteboard, or even large sheets of paper taped to the wall. This helps them engage their shoulder muscles, improve their pencil grip, and strengthen their posture!

𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀
Try "bear crawls," "crab walks," or "frog jumps" to build strength in the core and upper body. These exercises are fun and beneficial for handwriting posture!

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲
Let kids practice writing while standing up at a desk or easel. This challenges their core muscles to engage and helps them practice controlling their movements.

𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝘀
Working with thicker writing tools can encourage a better pencil grip, promoting more precise control and less strain on little hands.
