🏡Did you know one of the homes that makes up is a Nutrition House?
Why does a matter? Why is this a part of our block? We believe not only does food matter, but more importantly the type of food we eat and the ease of how we get it that plays a foundational role in our well-being.
Auntie Na hopes to create a “complete circle of food,” including a garden to empower and teach residents of all ages how to grow and enjoy nutrient rich food, a commercial kitchen to offer cooking classes and a shared safe space to host events, enjoy the celebration of dining together and offer informational sessions to build a food secure community.
đźšśThis project is NOT over! We are expanding upon our vision, extending the nutrition houses' reach while addressing the exaggerated needs brought on by the pandemic.
Our FoodBox Delivery Program feeds over 140 families each week! Our house needs support to store and preserve all of the food being gifted to us through our community partners and volunteers. Our ability to deliver to all of our families relies on the volunteers. Simply put, we can't do it alone.
We won't stop there! Our goal is to develop a corner market store to create jobs, opportunities for walkable access to locally grown and produced products and an extension on safe spaces within our neighborhood.
