Hysterectomy Recovery Having an abdominal hysterectomy or recovering from one? Here's my story along with some tips that might help you with your recovery! I'm in my 40s. No children.

I had my hysterectomy on December 21, 2016. It was abdominal and I kept both of my ovaries. Having never had a major operation, I decided to keep a diary of everything leading up to the operation, the operation itself and recovery. I'll also share some post-op recipes, stories about my post-op life and so forth. The reason I'm keeping this blog is to help any other women who might be like me as we

ll as keep notes for myself should I ever need to have another major operation. If you have questions, feel free to PM me. I'll write back as soon as I can. Enjoy and I hope this helps!

Nine years before Courteney Cox starred in Friends, she gained another claim to fame - as the first person to use the word "period" in a US TV commercial.

Now, the actress has offered an updated version of that 1985 tampon advert.

The new take, posted to Instagram, finds the 58-year-old paraphrasing her younger self, swapping period problems for menopausal misery.

The Friends actress parodies her old self, with a jokingly cautionary tale about the menopause.

I’ve never had a major surgery before – the closest thing was when I got my wisdom teeth pulled – so I had no idea what to expect. When you’re stuck at home recovering for 6 weeks, you watch A LOT of television and have plenty of time to think about things that you took for granted when you were up and about.

Here are some things that I learned from my hysterectomy:

Can’t believe it’s been almost 7 years since my hysterectomy! Here’s what I learned from others to prepare for my surgery.

How about you? What did you do the day before your operation?

It’s important to just relax and rest the day before surgery. Take care of at least 1 to 1-1/2 weeks of tasks, errands, etc. because won’t be physically able to do things. The day befor…

It’s my annual MRI test day. 😩

As part of my high-risk screening, I need to have an MRI mammogram. After my hysterectomy, my doctor said she should’ve asked for a pelvic MRI for me because she didn’t anticipate how many fibroids I had which added an extra 1-2 hours to my surgery because the fibroids attached themselves to my intestines causing some complications.

I expect a pelvic MRI to be similar to a breast one (lying on your stomach) so I wrote this post to not only share with others but also remind myself of how to prepare for one since I need to have annual MRI mammos.

Getting a MRI is not easy, but it’s the most accurate type of scan there is. I’ve had 3 of them as part of my high-risk screening for breast cancer and I always dread that time of the …

Attention:
Facebook unpublished Hysterectomy Recovery for a few days not allowing me to post. They said that it violated their terms and conditions (??). If this happens again - especially permanently - and the groups disappear, then you'll know why.

One of the reasons was that they think that I was posting misleading medical information which is why I strongly encourage everyone to consult their doctors.

Also, please continue letting me know if there are any posts to review as I would really like to keep the groups open for everyone to get the support that they need.

Thanks!!

When you’re taking your post-op meds, one of the side effects is constipation, and there’s nothing more uncomfortable than being in pain AND feeling bloated. Here are some things that worked for me.
