This past week, I had the honor of speaking to young female leaders at two incredible events with .
Both sessions were about helping young women build self-confidence, overcome challenges, and embrace their inner strengthâbut in very different ways.
đ At the Wake Young Womenâs Leadership Academy, we ended with a powerful momentâstudents writing uplifting messages to one another. Seeing them lift each other up was a reminder that true confidence is built through community and support.
đĄAt the Athena in STEM Girls Conference, I introduced the âFlip the Switchâ exerciseâwhere each girl took a negative belief about herself and rewrote it into something empowering and true on a paper heart. The transformation in their words was inspiring!
Swipe to see what they wrote! đŹ Which one resonates with you the most?
And tell meâwhatâs one piece of advice youâd give a young woman about confidence? Drop it below and letâs spread some encouragement! đ

Does your workplace wellness program actually work?
So many companies invest in wellness initiatives, but letâs be real - if employees are still stressed, exhausted, and disengaged⌠is it actually making a difference?
I know firsthand how burnout can take a toll. As a former plastic surgeon, I thought I could push through the long hours and high-pressure demands, until I ended up in the hospital three times. That was my wake-up call.
Now, I help high-achieving professionals build resilience, boost energy, and create real balance, without sacrificing success. Because true wellness isnât about quick fixes. Itâs about real, lasting change that helps people thrive, not just survive.
Have you ever experienced burnout at work? Letâs talk about it. âŹď¸

Resilience isnât about never fallingâitâs about finding the strength to rise again.
I know this firsthand. After ending up in the hospital three times in one year, I had to completely rethink my life and career. Walking away from being a doctor wasnât easy, but it led me to a new purposeâhelping others prioritize their well-being before burnout takes over.
Here are 4 simple ways Iâve learned to build resilience, no matter how busy life gets:
1ď¸âŁ Start each day with intention â Write down 3 goals to stay focused and motivated.
2ď¸âŁ Move your body daily â It doesnât have to be in a gym; find what feels good for you.
3ď¸âŁ Set boundaries â Your energy is precious, and protecting it is key.
4ď¸âŁ Practice gratitude â A grateful heart can shift your entire perspective.
Save this post for those days when life feels overwhelmingâyouâve got this. đ

We can be honest, and we can be gentle.
Maybe your cardiovascular fitness isn't good right now. There's no reason to feel shame. It happens.
What we facilitate change by being honest and open with ourselves, taking in the good, the bad and the ugly.
It's okay.

Can your Apple Watch recognize important health symptoms before you do?
Probably...
Not because it's a smart watch, but because it takes the time to analyze the data.
Do you?
Do you even know which symptoms you're experiencing? Being mindful is much more than using a meditation app. It's taking the time to be aware of what your body is communicating with you over time.
Chronic disease takes places over YEARS of neglecting your body.
Then, when you decide to "get something looked at" you're faced with an apathetic primary care provider who gives you advice that you LITERALLY could've found on WebMD.
So you go back to ignoring your symptoms as you tell yourself, maybe it "wasn't that bad."
It is imperative as patients and providers that we listen to symptoms as ABNORMAL responses to our environment. Take time to find solutions.

I've been a plastic surgeon for 22 years, a wife and mother, a former professional ballet dancer, and a life-long health nut; incorporating the artistic nature of my profession with my avocation led me to develop this site. I'm passionate about helping people heal and transform their bodies, minds, and spirits so that they can live the vibrant lives they want and deserve.
I love the challenge of working with busy, successful women who have tried other methods of losing weight and healing their bodies and are frustrated with their lack of success; all I ask is that you be willing to drop your preconceptions and put in the work to succeed.
My clients are often surprised to find out that I was a ballet dancer for many years, traveling the US, Europe, and the Caribbean. They're curious about my transition from dancing to "doctoring" as well. What I often say is that I knew I wanted to be a physician when I was six years old, but that the opportunity to travel the world as a young adult was irresistible. And so I did.
When that career began to wind down, I refocused my energies on my first love - medicine. Once admitted to Columbia University in New York for medical school, I found that the discipline I had garnered from 17 years of dancing made the rigorous study necessary almost pale in comparison. I graduated as a member of the National Honor Society and received the Franklin C. McClean Award, presented to the top minority medical student in the nation.
The other aspect of dancing that has transitioned well to medicine is its artistic nature. I'm sure that's one reason I initially felt drawn to Plastic Surgery as a specialty.
I've now been a plastic surgeon for over twenty years and have loved almost every moment. I've performed surgery on the faces and bodies of thousands of people, helping them achieve their outward, aesthetic goals. It continues to be just as exhilarating working in the operating room today as it was when I first began.
Recently, though, I began to realize that I could provide a more holistic approach for the women I was working with that would get them out of the overwhelm of conflicting advice - do they eat Paleo, vegan, keto? Do they weight train or do HIIT? How come they're exhausted but still can't sleep? And what about STRESS??? This would be more than just - pardon the analogy - a facelift for their health.
It took combining the lessons I learned from one particular liposuction patient (who gained 50 pounds after his surgery!) with my own personal health challenges to understand and develop just what was needed - an integrated, personalized approach to wellness that went beyond the standard âeat less, exercise more, think positive thoughtsâ advice that pervades the internet.
What I am sharing is how to make gains in your physical, emotional, and spiritual lives because (and this is unusual for a plastic surgeon to say) beauty is not just on the outside. When all of these aspects are in sync, then we can easily live joyful lives.
Why do you want joy? Joy is more than being happy. It is a state of the mind, the heart, and the soul. It's a heady mix of hope and contentment, and yes, love when you look at the world around you. Joy remains with you whatever your external circumstances may be.
This is what I want for you.
I'm looking forward to supporting you to look, feel, and be your best!
