In November, one of our skilled nursing patients turned 10! 🎂🥳🙌🎈

Our patient Cenzy was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs in 2017 and given a life expectancy of 3 to 4 years. This year she turned 10. 💙

From our Delaware care team:"Cenzy has defied every odd that was given to her.

She was originally admitted to our care as a baby just needing a little extra care so mom and dad could work. She then progressed in her disease and required a trach and ventilator and was then admitted under our skilled nursing line.
Her big sister Bianca told mom from very early on that Cenzy would hit double digits and she sure did.
We are so very excited to celebrate this amazing little girl and her beautiful spirit. As her mom says, 'every day is a blessing.'"

Meet Bryan Perea 👋
"The last few years have been some of the most rewarding in my professional career!

As one of the newest members to Maxim's federal team, being able to serve the men and women who contributed to our nations atomic growth is truly an honor.

As a native New Mexican, everyone who lives here knows how big of a role that Los Alamos National Labs (LANL) and Sandia National Labs helped shape the face of the atomic industry that it is today. And I am grateful that my mission now is to connect former workers with vital home care services and other essential services under the EEOICPA PROGRAM that they might need!"

Each November, National Family Caregivers Month recognizes the 53 million Americans who provide care to loved ones with complex health needs. This year, we highlight the experiences of two current caregivers and two survivors to shed light on the realities of caring for patients with ALS.

1️⃣ Michele's caregiving journey began in 2018 with small acts of assistance for her husband, Benjamin—tying ties, buttoning shirts, shaving and bathing. By 2019, after a series of misdiagnoses, Benjamin was diagnosed with ALS.
"He is my priority, and I wouldn't trade this for anything."

2️⃣ Lisa's caregiving experience began in 2011 when her husband was diagnosed with ALS. At first, the disease progressed slowly, but by 2020 his near-paralysis forced her to seek help.
"Everything changed once we were onboarded with Maxim," Lisa said. "My husband was able to leave hospice."

3️⃣ Ashley's journey was unique—an adult child caring for a parent while also raising her own family following her husband's death. Ashley says the most rewarding part was simply being there for her father. "In that isolation, we found connection," she said. "We were able to take advantage of a second chance at time and making memories."

4️⃣ Lara's caregiving journey began in 2016 when her husband was diagnosed with ALS. Unlike many veterans with full coverage, their journey was slow and complicated. By 2019, he had a tracheostomy and ventilator and left the ICU fully paralyzed.
Her message to caregivers: you are not alone. "Connecting with others saved my life," Lara said. "Support groups and VA resources provided both emotional outlets and practical tips that made caregiving more manageable."

Caregiving through ALS can be exhausting, frightening and deeply fulfilling.

Each story—Michele's grace, Lisa's advocacy, Ashley's resilience and Lara's love—reminds us that caregivers are the hidden heroes of this journey. National Family Caregivers Month honors them, but their strength deserves recognition every day.

4 tips for Autism-friendly holiday shopping:
1️⃣ Start small, stay flexible
Whenever possible, let your child know ahead of time where they're going and what to expect.
You can seek out and take breaks in quiet areas, whether that be in a less busy area of the store or mall or even back at your car.

2️⃣ Schedules are your friend!
The night before let them know:
• We will drive to the store
• Park our car in the parking lot
• Walk into the store together
• Find our items
• Pay at the register
• Walk to our car
• Drive back home

3️⃣ Know their limits and bring supports
Trouble with noises? Bring headphones
Trouble with bright lighting? Bring sunglasses or a hat
Trouble with sensory overload? Bring a weighted blanket or weighted stuffed animal to soothe them

4️⃣ Reward good behavior
Rewarding good behavior can help encourage your child to keep up the good work during the next shopping trip.

Meet Bryce Terry 👋
"For nearly six years, I've had the honor of serving our nation's energy workers through the Energy Workers Program.
Growing up in East Tennessee, I was able to see the impact that toxic substance related illnesses had on my community firsthand.

This is why my mission is to connect former energy workers, who gave their health in service of our country, with vital home care services and resources.

What I love about Maxim is our deep, patient-centered commitment. With a dedicated federal division, we are equipped to navigate the complexities of the EEOICPA, supporting patients in getting the services they need. I am proud to be a part of a team that truly invests in people."

Our Orlando, FL crew rolled up their sleeves 👩‍🍳 and headed to the Orlando VA's Fisher House to celebrate Veteran's Day this month. Fisher House Orlando

We cooked 🍳, served 🍽️, and shared smiles 😊 with veterans and their families. Since1990, the Fisher House Foundation has served over 455,000 military and Veterans' families, saving them an estimated $575 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

From our team: "We had 3 groups go to the Orlando VA's Fisher House to cook and serve veterans and their families. It was a great way for us to utilize our Service Day!"

Every year, we encourage our employees to get out into their communities and volunteer with local 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in support of our mission to enhance the quality of life within our communities.
