Your body sends signals when it’s not getting enough good fats. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That’s because the body uses the fat you eat to build cell walls. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
You have more than 10 trillion cells in your body, and every single one of them needs high-quality fat.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The higher-quality the fat you eat, the better your brain will function. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I eat fat with every meal, and I’ve never felt better. The right fats can improve your mood, skin, hair, and nails, while protecting you against Type 2 diabetes, dementia, cancer, and much more.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Among my favorite sources of fat include:⁣⁣⁣⁣
Avocados⁣⁣⁣⁣
Nuts & seeds⁣⁣⁣⁣
Fatty fish that are rich in omega-3 fats⁣⁣⁣⁣
Extra virgin olive oil ⁣⁣⁣⁣
Grass-fed or sustainably raised animal products ⁣⁣⁣

"POWERHOUSE" FOODS

I often cringe when I hear the term "superfoods" because I don't think it's well defined, so I was excited to see this publication defining "powerhouse" foods based on nutrient density. It reported 41 different foods assessed for 17 nutrients weighted for bioavailability. These were the top 10 "powerhouse" foods (as they were called), with watercress in the lead.

Very interesting because in another publication on "anti-depressant foods" by LaChance and Ramsey (2018), watercress also came out first on the list due to its nutrient content. All in all, I support eating a colorful array of foods; however, as you can see here, when you need nutrient density overall, GREEN is the color to follow! They are rich in folates, vitamin K1, carotenoids, and minerals like magnesium and potassium.

“The true conduct of autumn is gathering in - repair, review, and conserve. It is less vigorous than summer, but done correctly and precisely, prepares us well for the awesome stillness of winter. Think work completed, mind closed, floating in and downward.”

"The mood boost of talking to strangers may seem fleeting, but the research on well-being suggests that a happy life is made up of a high frequency of positive events, and even small positive experiences make a difference."

Happiness, says one researcher, is the sum of many positive moments throughout the day. Something as simple as a friendly chat in the elevator can boost your mood. So put down your phone and try it.

Buddhist perspective: "While trying to avoid difficulty may be natural and understandable, it actually doesn’t work. We think it makes sense to protect ourselves from pain, but our self-protection ends up causing us deeper pain. If you want to have a full and happy life, in good times and bad, you have to get used to the idea that facing misfortune squarely is better than trying to escape from it." Read more on tools to handle life's difficulties.

When life is tough, this ancient set of Buddhist slogans can offer six powerful techniques to transform obstacles into awakening and benefit.

Have Healthy Hips -- The hip flexors are a group of muscles around the upper and inner thighs and pelvic region that help power nearly every movement we perform. Strengthening and increasing hip flexor flexibility can also increase performance. For example, one study found athletes who did hip flexor exercises as part of their routine both improved their hip flexion strength by 12.2 percent and cut their run times by as much as 9 percent.
