Meet Esperanza, a Colombian immigrant and an AACI Asian Women’s Home (AWH) client who made the brave decision to restart her life across the country to escape domestic violence and find safety. 💜

Previously, she had left a violent marriage and raised her two daughters on her own. When a new boyfriend began abusing her and she “began fearing for her life” once again, the family packed up what could fit in their car and made a four-day journey cross-country, sleeping in parking lots at night. The family remained hopeful and after arriving in the Bay Area, found Amigos de Guadalupe, a nonprofit that safely hoteled them for one night before referring them to AACI AWH program.

AWH Advocates supported the family in establishing a new home in CA. Using her remaining savings, Esperanza was able to lease an apartment and “[her] girls were literally jumping with joy when they moved into their new home.” 🥰

The family now has a safe place to call home thanks to the support from AACI AWH. Esperanza and her family are now on the road to healing and starting anew.

We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our champion partners at Cepheid! 🥰

Just a month after our last visit, we were so excited to be back at their offices. We were humbled and inspired by their dedication as they rallied together to assemble an additional 200 backpacks for our clients. 👏

It was truly amazing to see 100 employees from different and diverse Employee Belonging Groups come together for this important cause. Their teamwork and commitment to making a difference were on full display, showcasing the power of a community united by a common goal. 🤝

This generosity will provide hundreds of our clients with the supplies they need to excel academically, build confidence, and feel prepared for the school year.
Cepheid's continued partnership is a testament to their commitment to our community, and we are so grateful for their unwavering support. Your support truly brings positive change. ❤️

We all felt the aloha spirit during AACI's Back-to-School Health Fair on August 2nd thanks to the Ilima Dancers! 🌺

This vibrant Hawaiian dance group was just the first of many cultural performers that day.

For nearly 60 years, Hui Ilima has been sharing the spirit of Aloha throughout the Bay Area, performing at Hawaiian festivals, art and wine fairs, health events, schools, senior centers, and other celebrations. Their dedication goes beyond dance—they study various styles of hula, as well as the Hawaiian language and history, keeping the culture alive and thriving in our community.

Thank you, Hui Ilima Dancers, for being a part of our event!
