We are saddened to share the passing of one of our longest serving Free Clinic volunteers, Betty Anderson. She was often known as the “med lady” at the Free Clinic before she retired from volunteering in 2023. Betty was an extraordinary nurse with a passion for helping others. She was on the founding board of the Free Clinic and helped to make the Free Clinic what it is today. Our staff, volunteers, and patients thank you so much, Miss Betty, for all that you did for our community. Your service and generosity were unmatched, and your spirit lives on in the heart of the Free Clinic 💙🌻

Thank you Hannibal Lions Club for the chance to share updates on what is happening at the Hannibal Free Clinic.

We were honored to welcome Sharon Webster from the Hannibal Free Clinic l Free Clinic as our guest speaker at this week’s meeting!

Sharon shared the incredible impact the clinic continues to make in our region. Since opening in 2007, the clinic has served more than 2,400 area residents, providing medical care, dental extractions, and over $25 MILLION in medication support—all at no cost to patients.

As a non-profit community charity, the clinic relies entirely on volunteer physicians, nurses, and support staff. Thanks to generous community partnerships, including the ongoing support of the LIONS Club, which helps fund free eye exams, the clinic continues to thrive. Since 2011, they’ve provided over $2 million in services annually to eligible residents—completely free of charge.

If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back, Sharon encourages anyone interested in donating time or funds to visit www.hannibalfreeclinic.org to learn more.

Thank you for this wonderful honor. We could not have been successful for all these years without a strong Board of Directors. Pictured are former board member Justin Gibson, current board member Craig Parsons, clinic manager Sharon Webster, former board members Todd Ahrens and Joel Booth.

At the United Way Annual Meeting, the Hannibal Free Clinic was named the Agency of the Year. Pictured are several current and former board members of the organization with the clinic director, Sharon Webster.

Our community is healthier because of the Hannibal Free Clinic.

The organization opened in 2007 to provide free, non-emergency scheduled primary healthcare to uninsured community members. Since that time, with the help of many volunteers (including doctors) and Sharon Webster, the organization’s director, the Hannibal Free Clinic has provided necessary primary healthcare services to thousands of area community members. The organization has helped their patients access millions of dollars of needed prescriptions to help manage chronic health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and more. They have treated all patients turning to them for help with love, dignity, and respect.

The most profound impact of the Hannibal Free Clinic is often unseen: the medical emergencies that didn't happen. Their work has meant that numerous families in the area have avoided the immense suffering of witnessing a loved one endure a life-debilitating stroke, heart attack, or other critical health event. This story of prevention is a vital, though often untold, part of their success.

Alongside the untold story are the stories of patients that have gotten their health under control and been able to re-enter the workforce, obtain a healthier life, and more.

The team of volunteers and supporters who make the mission of the Hannibal Free Clinic come to life within the community put hours upon hours into the organization. Thank you to these community members for making a positive impact through the Hannibal Free Clinic.
