Thank You to Our Local Nonprofits and Congratulations to Our Recent Grantees!

Nonprofits are the heart and conscience of our communities. They step in where systems fall short – feeding families, housing neighbors, lifting voices, and driving change that government and business often overlook. Every day, nonprofits fight for justice, dignity, and opportunity – not for profit, but for people. Supporting them is an honor; it’s an investment in a more equitable and resilient society. When we support our nonprofits, we choose compassion, equity, and community over indifference and division.

This past year, we saw unprecedented need from our partners, with $5.1 million requested in 145 grant applications. As a steward of our community funds, we were grateful to award 97 grants for $2.55 million to 75 local nonprofits in our 2024-2025 fiscal year, which ended on June 30, 2025. These grants supported both large and small nonprofits within our service area across five types of grantmaking opportunities.

Mental health isn’t just about what’s going on inside. It’s also shaped by how we’re treated, what we have access to, and what’s expected of us. For BIPOC communities, these factors can have an even bigger impact on mental health.

Each July, we honor the legacy of author, advocate, and trailblazer Bebe Moore Campbell by recognizing Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

Moore Campbell’s ability to tell impactful stories highlighting themes of racism, mental health, and family left a lasting mark on this world and is a foundation for much of the work that continues in support of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) mental health.

Three actions you can take for during Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month:

🔸 Take care of yourself.
🔸 Take care of your community.
🔸 Advocate for change.

In rural Pennsylvania, we know what it means to care for our neighbors. Tell your House Rep: Don’t cut housing, SNAP, or Medicaid. Our small towns depend on it.

The House of Representatives is considering the One Big Beautiful Bill Act TODAY. This bill includes significant cuts to housing, SNAP, and Medicaid. Cutting these programs will hurt our local families and economies.

Make your voice heard today by contacting your congressional legislators: https://www.palegis.us/find-my-legislator

The US Senate has passed their version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and it is now headed to the House of Representatives for reconciliation.

Now is the time to make your voices heard by contacting your congressional legislators: https://www.palegis.us/find-my-legislator

It’s time to increase affordable housing investments, not cut them. Cuts hurt those with the greatest needs in our communities: low-income seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and those experiencing homelessness.

Cuts to housing, Medicaid, and SNAP threaten the basics every family needs to survive. Congress must put . Make you voices heard TODAY: protect the safety net.
