Defying Gravity: Arm Balances 
 
Arm balances strengthen the physical core of the body, activate the inner digestive fire of “agni,” and help to promote Tapas- will, determination, and confidence! While these set of postures appear to be heavy on arm strength, it is necessary to deeply connect with the core, create space in the chest, and call upon the wisdom of the bandhas to truly achieve balance.
 
Learn the fundamental arm balance postures: Crow (bakasana), Side Crow (parsva bakasana), and Shoulder-Pressing Pose (bhujapidasana) and play with additional variations and fun challenge postures.
 
Join advanced teacher trainer, Chelsea Brown, for Asana Lab, a special 90 minute class intended to break down advanced asana and demystify the physical and energetic techniques necessary to work into them safely. You will be led through discussion on the anatomy and correct alignment of the featured postures, as well as the relevant subtle bodies (chakras, bandhas, etc), intended energetic effects, and the mythology behind the asana. Expect to be led through a series of drills designed to specifically target growth into the featured postures. Props will be heavily utilized to facilitate deeper understanding of each posture and to allow ease of access for each body.

At least one year of consistent asana practice is recommended to reap the full benefits of this class. Please bring a notebook and writing utensil. CEUs are available for Registered Yoga Teachers.

Join Jen for a special afternoon honoring the turning of the seasons and the power of intention. As spring gives way to summer, take time to reflect, reset, and realign your personal goals through the mindful meditative practice of a half Yoga Mala.

This year, we will be completing a total of 54 Sun and Moon Salutations.

The practice will be thoughtfully guided with time for rest, reflection, and integration between each set. Modifications will be offered throughout, making this a welcoming and supportive space for all levels.

Whether you’re new to the Yoga Mala or returning for another journey, this is a beautiful opportunity to challenge yourself, connect inward, and share in the energy of a warm, like-minded community.

Please Join us for this 75min all level yoga class in support of Bloom’s 200 hour YTT graduate, Sarah Schufreider, in memory of her son Paddy Hamilton who passed away at the age of 2 from complications from leukemia treatments.

Proceeds from this donation class will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization that is committed to LLS research for pediatric patients.

Paddy’s 6th year anniversary was yesterday. Each anniversary continues to be difficult and many tears were shed yesterday. However, I can’t think of a more amazing way to wake up today and see this... After less than 2.5 weeks of fundraising, Team Ka- Chow blew past our original goal of $40K!!! And we still have over 7 weeks left in this competition!! So, we have to meet our supporters where they are at and DOUBLE our original goal! We are now striving to raise $80k!!! Yoga for Managing Anxiety and Overwhelm During the Menopausal Years with Karen Plumley

Anxiety and a sense of overwhelm are common symptoms during the menopausal years. This is due to changes and fluctuations in hormones which cause cognitive shifts in the brain. Guess what? Yoga can help!

In this two-hour workshop, you will practice a yoga sequence that combines gentle movement and restorative yoga with mindful breathwork, helping to reduce the body’s stress response, promote relaxation and improve overall well-being. Our time together will also include a supported group sharing circle, a guided meditation, and journaling.

Karen Plumley is a yoga teacher of over 15 years and Certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is excited to be offering this workshop so that women have a sacred space to practice yoga in a way that honors this time of life.

Join us for Sound Magic: Gong Immersion with Crystal Bowls at Bloom!

Sound Magic immersions are musically meditative experiences that engage the physical and energetic body, through the sounds of gongs, bowls, chimes, drums, shakers and other percussion instruments. The meditative state created by the vibrations leads to the softening of physical and emotional tension, inviting in a sense of calm, bliss and wonder. Sound immersion works as a full body vibrational massage for each cell of our body.

The workshop begins with a brief meditation for physical and energetic centering and a progressive relaxation for the body. Participants are invited to become aware of their physical, energetic and emotional sensations, cued to soften and let go of holding and tensing and allow themselves to be in a present moment. Previous participants described their experiences as blissful, ethereal, vivid and creative.

Bloom Yoga studio has all props necessary to create your own soft nest for this experience and we encourage you to bring any props that will add to having a pleasant experience, whether it is your pillow, fluffy blanket, extra cushy mat, eye pillow etc.

Sound Magic has been featured in do312, presented multiple times at the Percussive Arts Society International Conference, yoga studios, acupuncture clinics, corporate event centers, faith-based spaces and spas throughout the Midwest.

In today’s world, being overwhelmingly busy can often be a badge of honor. Yet it comes at a cost. You might find yourself dropping into bed exhausted after long hours of work at the expense of your health, your relationships, and time for yourself. Maybe you find that you have lost that "zest" and joy for life you once had, and generally feel out of balance?

Join Tiffany in-person or virtually to energize the body and awaken the mind at this 90-minute Ayurvedic Yoga Workshop! You will practice an energizing Ayurvedic yoga therapy asana sequence, followed by breathwork with use of mudras, and a guided meditation infused with Reiki, leaving you empowered, energized, and uplifted.

Just as everyone has a unique fingerprint, each person has a particular combination of physical, mental, and emotional characteristics which make up who you are, or your Dosha type. Many factors, both internal and external, can disturb this balance and leave each of us feeling fatigued physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life", and is considered by many to be the oldest healing science (dating more than 5,000 years), helping to balance your being or Dosha type. In Ayurveda tradition, spring is known as Kapha season. Kapha dosha is associated with the subtle energy of stability and is governed by the Earth and Water element in nature. Come explore Kapha dosha and learn more about balance in your life!

All levels welcome. No experience necessary. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

This workshop is hybrid. Register and attend in-person at Bloom Yoga Studio, or virtually from the comfort of your own home. All attendees will receive a link to replay the workshop for up to 30 days.

During menopause, it's common for women to begin to lose muscle mass and bone density. In this two-hour workshop, we will practice a yoga sequence that helps to energize while boosting physical strength and stamina.

This workshop will include a short group sharing circle, both active and restorative yoga, breathwork, guided meditation, and journaling.

Karen Plumley is a yoga teacher of over 15 years and certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is excited to be offering this workshop so that women have a sacred space to practice yoga in a way that honors this time of life.

While this is not a gentle class, modifications will be provided. Come as you are.
