Is there a successful treatment for plantar fasciitis??

In the majority of cases the answer is YES!

When dealing with plantar fasciitis it’s important that the whole lower extremity from the hip down to the foot be evaluated and assessed from a bio mechanical standpoint; this is typically done during the initial evaluation.

Based off the objective findings during the examination, a proper, personalized treatment plan will be implemented. Treatment for this condition will typically include adjustments/manipulations to the lower back and hip, the foot and ankle, and sometimes even the knee. Manual therapies such as dry needling, IASTM, pin and stretch, cupping, or trigger point therapy may be incorporated to address any soft tissue findings.

Lastly, and according the evidence, most importantly, take home exercises will he give to help the patient increase mobility through the foot, as well as learn to properly activate and strengthen the intrinsic muscles of the foot.

Is chiropractic the only option to receive this type of care? No. The key is finding a great hands on clinician that will be thorough and patient centered.

Many people have success with physical therapy, massage therapy, and even with CBD products as well!

While pain is a normal part of life, learning how to manage your pain, instead of letting your pain manage you is the key to a successful, goal crushing lifestyle!

Happy Friday Everyone!

To wrap up this week I wanted to talk about a product I love recommending to people for low back pain.

The McKenzie lumbar roll is a perfectly sized lumbar support that you can take anywhere from the couch to your office chair to your seat on long car rides; this lumbar roll can help support your lumbar curvature and keep you in control of your back pain. Link below.

**Sound on**

Here is an example of a C1/C2 supine cervical adjustment. This area is a part of what we call your upper cervical spine, and a very commonly addressed area with tension headaches, neck pain, and more.

While a lot of speed is utilized, this is typically pain free for the patient, and instant results can be seen in office.

Interested? Have questions? Let’s chat.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is a 1 minute video discussing an exercise you can do at home to combat tension headaches while working from home.

Many times a poor ergonomic set up can lead to a lot of tension in the upper back and neck, causing tension headaches that could last minutes to even days!

If you’re struggling with tension headaches or neck/upper back discomfort, give this exercise a try and let me know what you think!

Check out this 1 minute clip about a 30 year old male mechanic I’ve been helping with chronic tension headaches at least 4-5 days a week!

In just a small period of time, utilizing adjustments, soft tissue work, and a home exercise program involving diaphragmatic breathing and chin retractions, we were able to get him from 4-5 a week down to just 1 in a WHOLE month!

If you or someone you know is suffering from tension headaches, let’s chat!

Research shows that spinal adjustment/manipulation - one of the primary treatments provided by doctors of chiropractic may be an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate from the neck.

A 2011 report in the JMPT found that interventions commonly used in chiropractic care improved outcomes for the treatment of tension headaches/cervicogenic headaches and migraines.

When you enter the office we will do a full cervical and neurological exam to first rule out any red flags. After the exam, a treatment plan will be created based off the found pain generators.

This will typically include: cervical or upper thoracic adjustments, trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, end range loading, and more!

If this is you or someone you know, let’s chat about your options!

Do you suffer from tension headaches?

If you have a headache, you’re not alone. Nine out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches. Some are occasional, some frequent, some are dull and throbbing, and some cause debilitating pain and nausea.

What is a tension headache?

A tension headache is generally a diffuse, mild to moderate pain in your head that's often described as feeling like a tight band around your head. A tension headache (tension-type headache) is the most common type of headache, and yet its causes aren't well-understood.

Signs and symptoms of a tension headache include:
* Dull, aching head pain
* Sensation of tightness or pressure across your forehead or on the sides and back of your head
* Tenderness on your scalp, neck and shoulder muscle

Tension headaches are divided into two main categories — episodic and chronic.

Episodic tension headaches can last from 30 minutes to a week. Frequent episodic tension headaches occur less than 15 days a month for at least three months.

Chronic tension headaches, on the other hand, can last hours and may be continuous. If your headaches occur 15 or more days a month for at least three months, they're considered chronic.

Do some of these signs and symptoms sound familiar to you? Tomorrow, we will talk about how chiropractic could help! Stay tuned 👍🏼

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Staying on brand with our weekly topic of TMD/jaw pain, we have an example of one of the treatment options utilized in our office. Here we have physical therapist Kristi Whitcomb, of Cora Physical Therapy demonstrating dry needling to the masseter muscle last year during a lunch and learn at our office. If you pay attention you can even see the twitch!

In our office, this treatment would be combined with cervical and TMJ adjustments as necessary. Don’t like needles? No problem. We have other manual therapy options such as trigger point therapy and pin and stretch that we can utilize in our office.

Happy Motivation Monday!

This week is all about chiropractic and jaw pain!

This video discusses how chiropractic care can be a useful solution for TMD/jaw pain. We will start with an evaluation of your thoracic and cervical spine, followed by an evaluation of the surrounding soft tissue, and then evaluate the TMJ as well.

Once we are able to pin point the pain generator, we will create a treatment plan tailored to you. Examples of this include cervical and thoracic adjustments, TMJ manipulation, and soft tissue work. Soft tissue work may look like trigger point therapy, dry needling, or pin and stretch. Take home exercises will also be given to help create self dependence, and to help improve clinical outcomes!

Also pro-tip to sound smart with friends...many people will say “I have TMJ” Well folks we ALL have 2 TMJs. TMJ just tells us that you have a temperomandibular joint, TMJD or TMD tells us you have diagnosed jaw dysfunction. 💥 boom.

**TOPIC OF THE WEEK: Jaw pain aka...TMD

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull. You have one joint on each side of your jaw. TMJ disorders — a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD — can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement.

The temporomandibular joint combines a hinge action with sliding motions. The parts of the bones that interact in the joint are covered with cartilage and are separated by a small shock-absorbing disk, which normally keeps the movement smooth.

Painful TMJ disorders can occur if:
* The disk erodes or moves out of its proper alignment
* The joint's cartilage is damaged by arthritis
* The joint is damaged by a blow or other impact

Factors that may increase the risk of developing TMJ disorders include:
* Various types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
* Jaw injury
* Long-term (chronic) grinding or clenching of teeth
* Certain connective tissue diseases that cause problems that may affect the temporomandibular joint

Tune in tomorrow to figure out how chiropractic can help! Happy Sunday!
