It's again - and we're talking canning!

Canning your summer garden is a powerful way to nourish your household and reduce food waste, but safety comes first.

Botulism is rare, but it can happen if proper canning steps aren’t followed. The good news? Safe canning is simple when you know the basics:

✅ Use clean, fresh produce
✅ Follow tested recipes
✅ Know when to use a boiling-water vs pressure canner
✅ Add acid when needed
✅ Process for the right time

Preserve your harvest, protect your health, and keep your pantry stocked with love 💚 Check out this resource and swipe through the slides to learn more:https://ohioline.osu.edu/sites/ohioline/files/imce/Family_and_Consumer_Sciences/HYG-5344-Table2-Landscape.pdf

In late July, our nonprofit community gathered at Town Corner Coworking to honor the legacy of the Swannanoa Valley Medical Center (SVMC)—a grassroots nonprofit that, for over 50 years, quietly shaped the health and well-being of the Swannanoa Valley.

In its final act of service, SVMC awarded $400,000 in grants to a dozen organizations, including Bounty & Soul, bringing its total local grant contributions to $1.4 million!

“Our consensus was to continue our work by selling the building and giving the money back to the community, as an investment in the Swannanoa Valley,” said former administrator and board chair Kevin West. “We wanted to use this opportunity as a force multiplier for the other amazing nonprofit organizations that do so much for the people of this valley.”

We are honored to be part of that legacy. In 2014, Bounty & Soul was just an idea in need of a physical space and SVMC gave us a home.

“I was on the vestry at St James when Ali came in with her idea… she needed space,” said SVMC treasurer Sharon Zeigler. “I then went home and talked to my husband, who was the president at the time… Of all the things we’ve done, this one to me is the one I am most proud of, given how much Bounty & Soul impacts our Valley.”

To Kevin, Sharon, Carl, and every board member past and present, thank you.

“This is the greatest group of people I’ve ever worked with,” West said. “It’s been very fulfilling to me, personally, but I think it will continue to do a lot of good in this community.”

The legacy of SVMC lives on in food shared, health restored, and hearts nourished across the Valley.

🎙️ We’re proud to support , , and public media outlets everywhere.

Public media plays a vital role in our communities — delivering trusted news, educational programming, and emergency information to millions, often in places where no other source exists.

We’ve been grateful for the support we’ve received from public media, and we recognize how important it is to keep these services strong — especially for rural and underserved areas.

Now more than ever, we encourage our community to support the local stations that support us all.
