Deeper than deep tissue myofascial bodywork from the FEET of Jeni Spring, a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2001. 7x "Best of" winner in the SaCurrent Magazine for Best Massage Therapist. Relaxation is not exactly my focus, BUT the good news is that chemically, deep down to the cells of your body, a sense of relaxation happens with every ‘Deeper than Deep’ fascial therapy session that I do, even

when it gets down to that “hurts so good” level of pressure! Just like how outdoor yoga is about BEING IN THE MOMENT and breathing through the distractions to find peace and focus, I encourage you to take notice of your body’s inner sensations during your sessions. The goal of “relaxation” is therefore up to you. I’ll provide the space, and I’ll do the hard work to focus on treating your soft tissue injuries,, so that YOU can enhance your own internal body awareness and heal through a mindful meditation on the internal sensations of this massage. The sessions that I provide are Myofascial Barefoot Massage sessions set on the massage table or on a floor mat that incorporate Stretch Therapy, and soon, also Structural Integration. My goal is to give you a sense of effortlessness in your movements, better awareness of how you feel inside your body, and to rehab your strains and pains into something self-manageable. How is that possible?! Barefoot Massage offers slow moving, broad pressured, myofascial and stretch therapy techniques. My skilled feet can get just as detailed as hands, (Spoiler alert: I may still have to do some specific Structural Integration techniques with my hands ::GASP!:: But the sessions are usually 99% from my feet.) My body weight and gravity allow me to maintain consistent pressure at the depth your body “kneads.”

Your nervous system reacts to this big-footed pressure the same as if it were a weighted blanket. Your muscles won’t need to clench from the pokey pain of elbows and fingers – it can melt under the rounded surfaces of our warm, clean, smooth feet. The active movements that I guide you thru during the stretch therapy sessions will help to recalibrate the GPS of your body’s perception of pain, and the deepen the brain-body connections that neuromuscularly inform the quality of your movement. There is a lot of science in this work. Speed up your recovery time and resolve chronic pain in a session with Jeni Spring, LMT at Heeling Sole Barefoot Massage!

Pain can linger long after you’ve healed…
Ever been told “you’re fine” when your body clearly disagrees? That doesn’t mean you’re broken—it means your nervous system is still trying to protect you, even when the injury itself has mended.

At Heeling Sole, Jeni can look beyond scans and symptoms to work with your body’s whole story:

Structural Integration realigns how your body moves in gravity, helping muscles, fascia, and joints cooperate instead of fight each other.

Scar Work gently frees hidden restrictions that tug on posture or limit movement.

Bonework targets the fascia around bones—especially after fractures or long‑ago injuries—to restore ease where things feel “stuck.”

Jeni's barefoot massage anchors it all with slow, grounded pressure that reassures your nervous system: you’re safe now.

When these approaches meet, your body can shift from holding on… to letting go.

I’m up in Maine again, soaking up all the body-nerd goodness I can... and we just wrapped the first of two back-to-back advanced trainings with the one and only Sharon Wheeler. ← That’s her with me here! (Total legend.).

Sharon was one of Ida Rolf’s original students, and has been doing her thing ever since... blending Structural Integration with fascial discoveries, insights from Esalen, decades of hands-on experimentation, & a wicked smart sense of touch. I got to shadow her around the treatment room during a clinic round, hearing her strategy & watching each different approach. Y’all... she melted my hand into someone’s bone. Seriously. She guided me straight to the periosteum on a client’s leg, placed her hand over mine, & we sank in together, so cool to feel how she does it compared to how I do it.

This first class was all about ScarWork... a method Sharon developed to help old, stuck, forgotten scars rejoin the fascial web. This is for scars that don’t move, that feel numb, that mess with posture or movement in ways you didn’t even realize. We worked with over 30 clients across 4 days, and the skin color came back, breath expanded, shoulders shifted. Even the vibe in the room changed as people reconnected with parts of themselves they’d tuned out for years.

If you’ve got any scars or burns, we can check them out with these new-to-me techniques during your next session to see what shifts for you. This is hand work, not footwork, (so I won't use my feet to do the techniques: GASP!) It is a great compliment with valuable stuff for the layers of tissue that I might usually blow right past. 👋🏼

Let’s bring those forgotten places back online... But not till August, July appointments are full and I believe there's only maybe 2 appointments even available in August!

Movement, hydration, and transparency keep fascia fluid and functional.
When layers grip too tightly, restrict motion, and hoard information, things get brittle fast.
Let the truth slide free.

When the world feels tight and tense, remember—fascia can release.

Fascia isn’t just a fun word to say... it’s the connective tissue that holds every muscle, bone, and organ in place. When it gets wound up (tied tight from fear, stress, or stillness) your whole body feels it. But fascia can move. It moves with your heartbeat. It moves with your breath. And yes, it moves with your voice.

I vote we unwind fascia—not all of humanity.

At Heeling Sole in San Antonio, I blend barefoot massage with principles of structural integration to deliver smart, foot-applied compression that helps release stuck fascia, settle your nervous system, and reconnect you to your body.

Stay curious. Stay embodied. Stay human.

Here’s your radical reminder:
You don’t have to be in crisis to care for your body.

We live in a culture that rewards burnout—where pain is a badge, stress is a status symbol, and rest has to be “earned.” I am also that person, and I'm working on it.

During your appointments at Heeling Sole, we work together on preventative care, nervous system literacy, and tuning in before you break down.

✨ Structural Integration (SI) helps your body move with less effort—even at rest.
By releasing old holding patterns, it restores ease and flow—so your recovery doesn’t have to be earned through struggle.

✨ Barefoot Massage and SI also support nervous system retraining. With consistent, non-threatening touch, they help rewire pain responses—even when the tissue has healed but the story still lingers.

Besides, in a world that thrives on productivity and reactivity—over wellbeing and integration—rest is resistance.

Pain is your brain’s way of saying “Something feels unsafe.”

That might be because of tissue damage—but it could also be from stress, memory, fear, or fatigue.

Your nervous system turns the volume up when it doesn’t feel supported… and dials it down when you feel safe, seen, and heard.

Barefoot Massage sends your nervous system safety signals.

The broad, grounded pressure from the feet helps reduce threat perception in the brain, teaching your body it’s okay to let go.

This is why our barefoot massage isn’t about “digging deep”—it’s about building safety in your body, one slow, supportive step at a time.

Pain doesn’t discriminate.
It shows up in all our bodies regardless of gender, race, ability, size, age, or story.

I've been geeking out on this topic a LOT lately & am becoming more aware that like Science, >>Pain Science>> news doesn’t always reach everyone equally.

Even though research shows that understanding how pain works can change how we experience it, that knowledge often gets stuck in papers, or behind paywalls.

➤ Most people living with chronic pain are never told that their nervous system can change, or that their pain isn’t always tied to damage.
➤ Women, especially women of color, are less likely to be believed about their pain.
➤ Entire populations are treated like they'd never understand - so here's a pill instead 😵‍💫
➤ And then embodied, preventative care like massage or movement therapy? Often dismissed as fluff—even when science backs it.

So I’m doing something about that.

I’m using my platform & my feet to help educate y'all on what I'm studying.

👉 Keep an eye out for upcoming posts where I’ll break down bite-sized pain science truths and fascia facts in a way that’s real, useful, and grounded in how I work with your body on the table.

You’ll get info about how pain actually works, what fascia has to do with it, and how massage, movement, and awareness are a part of the changes needed.

The real work is underfoot in an appointment with me: but you can come prepared.

It’s not about fixing you. It’s about supporting you while your body figures it all out. My catchphrase“We Can Heel That” only applies when we work together in session.

The Barefoot Massage & Structural Integration work I offer both respect your body’s complexity & they can help shift what you're feeling.

I use slow, responsive pressure that works with your nervous system, not against it, so instead of fighting your pain, I help your body feel safe enough to soften.

Pain is real… and so is hope.
(And if you're a Star Wars nerd like me, you know “Rebellions are built on hope.”)

So let’s get a little rebellious about this & put the science where it belongs—in your hands, in your body, & in your HEELING!
