A time to raise awareness about the importance of driving safely through roadway work zones. Every cone, sign, and barricade represents workers who are doing their jobs close to moving traffic.

Work zones are temporary, but the risks are real. Slowing down, staying alert, and eliminating distractions can save help save lives. Let’s all do our part to protect those who work hard to keep our roads safe. 💛

❤️ Know the Warning Signs of a Heart Attack ❤️ Symptoms can vary from person to person and may not always be sudden or severe, but recognizing the signs of a heart attack can save valuable time and help ensure a faster response.

Common warning signs include:
➡️ Chest discomfort or pressure
➡️ Pain or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, or jaw
➡️ Shortness of breath
➡️ Nausea, lightheadedness, or breaking out in a cold sweat

If you or someone else may be experiencing a heart attack, call 9-1-1 immediately.

⭐️ Community Outreach Spotlight ⭐️ LERN was grateful for the opportunity to share life-saving skills and techniques with members of St. Teresa's Villa community in Slidell.

The primary focus was emphasizing the importance of calling 9-1-1 immediately when someone is experiencing a STEMI heart attack. Community members also learned to recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke and STEMI, practice Hands-Only CPR, understand how to use an AED, and receive an introduction to Stop the Bleed techniques.

Education like this helps strengthen communities and ensures more people are prepared to respond when every second counts. ❤️

💡 Regional Collaboration Spotlight 💡 LERN in collaboration with the University Medical Center New Orleans and North Oaks Health System trauma teams, facilitated a Rural Trauma Team and Development Course (RTTDC), for the staff at Hood Memorial Hospital and Acadian Ambulance. The course focused on improving care of trauma patient in rural settings.

A special thank you to former LERN Board member, Dr. William Freeman and his team, along with all partners and participants, for their dedication to improving patient outcomes across Louisiana. 👏 👏 👏

The RTTDC™ is designed to improve the quality of trauma care in rural communities by promoting a timely, organized, and systematic team response to injured patients. The course emphasizes a team-based approach to common challenges in the initial assessment and stabilization of trauma patients and helps strengthen communication between sending and receiving trauma centers.
