How are you handling the hot weather?
I've been hearing from clients that the hot temperatures are causing hot flashes and heat reactions.
If I can only tell you one thing this month, let it be this: you have a lot of control over your body temperature.
Ayurveda says we need to change our diet and lifestyle in the summer, to accommodate the summer heat.
If you are feeling sensitive and intolerant to the heat, check in with these habits: are you still drinking coffee, chai, black tea? Even if you drink these iced, the energy of the drink is heating and will cause more heat sensitivity. Also, it's time to cut back on spicy foods including alcohol, chocolate and fermented foods.
Energetically hot foods and drinks make us hotter. Instead, lean into cooling foods such as cucumbers, avocados and melons.
Try this cooling tonic to help combat summer heat:
8 ounces coconut water
1/8 lime, squeezed
2 ounces pomegranate juice
1 ounce aloe vera juice
1/8 tsp sea salt
The first four ingredients are very cooling to your liver. The addition of sea salt makes this a natural electrolyte drink. You can make a big batch once weekly and then drink an 8 ounce serving each day.
Notice yourself cooling down in your physical body and your emotional state!
