On July 7, 2025, Kayla Keith, Children's Services Access Coordinator, presented information on emotional management skills and mental health resources at the Youth Citizen Police Academy hosted by the Wichita Police Department.

Our two newly certified trainers spent time this week training in the community! ASIST is a 2-day training program that teaches participants how to assist those at risk for su***de. This training is appropriate for all, and now the community has 21 new caregivers who can provide life saving care!

Hearts in Hand: A Veteran Art Coalition Workshop

Hearts in Hand is a special workshop dedicated to creating art with purpose and connecting with others through a shared passion for creating art to support wellness and prevent Veteran su***de. Veterans, service members, their families or supporters are invited to this hands-on event to create original artwork to be reproduced on Caring Contact notecards—brief, heartfelt messages sent to Veterans and their families after discharge from emergency or crisis care. These notes are part of a proven su***de prevention approach that offers continued connection and care during critical moments.

All skill levels are welcome—whether you’re a practicing artist or simply want to contribute through creative expression.

Art supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own materials as well. This workshop is free and open to the public.

Yesterday, COMCARE’s Director of Nursing, Abbey Cotter, RN was the recipient of a prestigious award from the Wichita Business Journal, she is one of the newest members of the Wichita’s 40 under 40. She was recognized as being one of the rising professionals in our community along with 39 others. FUN fact, she was the YOUNGEST of the honorees! Thank you for all the work that you do for COMCARE and our community!
