We are very happy to have the opportunity to reach out and help our community. All our staff is trained in CPR and how to use a defibrillator and we are glad to see that knowledge spread in the community.

Elmwood was the recipient of a life-saving gift this month! Thanks to Dr. Brian Simpson and Kathy McCarthy Simpson, our theater now has an AED (automated external defibrillator) installed next to the hospitality counter in the lobby. The Red Cross advises that during cardiac arrest, every second counts. Even though emergency personnel may arrive in minutes, for every minute without defibrillation, a sudden cardiac arrest victim's chance of surviving drops. Having an AED on hand eliminates delay.
At the September meeting, the Simpsons shared information about local CPR classes and provided a training on the AED, demonstrating that the equipment has voice guidance, detects whether the heart has stopped, and will not deliver a charge unless it is needed. Thank you to the Simpsons for ensuring that Elmwood is equipped with this vital and life-saving device.
