With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m honored to share the inspiration of my client Kim and how she thrived through breast cancer treatment by choosing a path of action.

Now 2 years later she’s living a full and active life traveling, playing tennis, hiking, and keeping her mind and body strong.

I get it! Diet and nutrition can be the most confusing piece of the puzzle when trying to improve your energy and your overall health and wellbeing.

Information and advice is everywhere and it can be overwhelming to try to understand what's right for you.

Well I have a few simple tips that have withstood the test of time (that's usually how you can tell if your receiving helpful tips and information).

Time tested tip #1:

If you want to properly fuel your body you need to consume more fiber. Fiber is found in most fruits and vegetables. They are also found in whole grain foods like oats, also legumes, nuts and seeds.

Adding any of these ingredients to your meals will greatly enhance your overall health and help you feel more energized throughout the day.

But why fiber?

Fiber helps regulate blood sugar, lowers cholesterol levels, and promotes a feeling of fullness, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight. Plus, it’s crucial for gut health, feeding the beneficial bacteria that support your immune system.

Tips for Boosting Fiber Intake:

🍎Start your day with a fiber-rich breakfast like oatmeal topped with berries and nuts.
🍎Snack smart by choosing fruits, raw veggies, or a handful of almonds instead of processed snacks.
🍎Swap refined grains for whole grains in your meals to naturally increase your fiber intake.

And...Stay Hydrated!
When increasing fiber, remember to drink plenty of water to support digestion and prevent discomfort 😉

Have you ever felt like your body is falling apart on you?

Right now I’m dealing with tendonitis in my ankle, arthritis in my knee, something just doesn’t feel right when I move my left shoulder, and I’ve got a nagging ache in my hip.
It’s so common to think you’ll never enjoy your favorite activities again when you’re in pain and like your body is giving out on you.

But let me tell you why thinking like that is stopping you, not the actual pain or injury.

Obstacles will exist, injuries will happen - they do for every single one of us. But careing for your body, improving your health, your fitness, is about the journey, not just the destination.

This is not the first time I have been sidelined by pain, discomfort, and injury and I’ve learned to trust each set back is only temporary.

Movement is not black and white. Almost every exercise can be modified to work around injuries or joint pain and discomfort while also strengthening the supporting muscles to help you move more confidently while caring for your body.

If you're new to my page, know that I am here to support you and I hope to inspire and teach you how to find confidence and joy in movement so that you can find confidence and joy elsewhere in life.

Don’t let obstacles and setbacks stop you from getting active with your kids or grandkids. Don’t let a season of feeling like your body is giving out on you stop you from your dreams of traveling.

I can’t stand attention.
I’ve never been one to want the spotlight or to be called on in class.

It’s fear.
Fear of appearing and/or sounding less than perfect.

I’ve put intense effort and pressure on myself to be perfect all of my life. From being the perfect child to the perfect student to the perfect employee.

Today, I am no more perfect than anyone else. The only place in life this battle with perfectionism has left me is tired and burnt out. Everyday is a battle between peace with myself and anxiety driven by the internal desire to be perfect in everything I do and please everyone I interact with.

I’ve recently realized that even though being perfect sounds glamorous and luxurious, perfectionism is nothing more than a limiting belief. Perfectionism and people pleasing is holding me back from the life I dream of living…not bringing me closer to it.

How many wonderful imperfect things in life have I missed out on because I was so caught up in being perfect?

There are so many opportunities I’ve passed up because I knew I wouldn’t be perfect at it so why bother.

I’ve been working diligently for several months on conquering my limiting beliefs, especially those of perfectionism and people pleasing. Both have gotten in my way personally. Both have been roadblocks in my career. Both have been the cause of exhaustion, stress and anxiety.

It’s taken me 40+ years to realize all this.

It’s tough, but now I’m focusing on showing up as my best self every day, whatever that looks like. I am walking forward in life with open eyes, an open mind, and an open heart. I don’t want to miss any of the amazing, imperfect people or opportunities that show up in my life. Because that’s where the magic happens.

If you can relate, or you know you struggle with other forms of limiting beliefs, my message is that it’s normal to feel this way. It’s human. And taking one day at time, showing up the best way you can for yourself and no one else will help you start moving forward toward the life you dream of living.

When a situation, project, task, or even people stress you out, do you catch yourself overthinking or ruminating on the stressor?

When a stressful situation causes us to overthink this can easily turn into anxiety and significantly impact our emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

Creating a stress journal to write out what is causing us stress and anxiety can bring awareness to the root cause of the stressor and help us better understand our boundaries and even help us problem solve and manage future stress better.
