If you live in IN and you DIDN’T stay up late last night to watch Notre Dame clinch their spot in the National Championship, what kind of Hoosier are you anyway?! If you DID watch the game, you saw this young man kick the winning field goal, but did you hear the plug for chiropractic? Here’s the story if you missed it.

Jeter, ND kicker, suffered a hip and groin injury back in week 4 of the season. His dad, a chiropractor, was credited several times by commentators last night for getting him back into playing shape following that injury.

“His (Jeter) injury saga goes back to Week 4, when he took a hit to a hip on an errant field goal snap against Miami (Ohio). He played through it, but a few weeks later against Stanford, he injured his groin. As time went on, his bones were not in perfect alignment — and that affected his form.

Jeter missed four of his five field goal attempts in the final four games of the regular season. His father, Andrew, works as a chiropractor and offered to help get his body back into alignment. He would come to South Bend on Thursdays and then stay for several days to help Jeter get his body aligned so everything could heal properly.”

And it worked! I love this story because I’m a chiropractor, but I also love this story because I’m a parent. Seeing his dad in the stands last night made me emotional. The pride he felt for the work his son had put in and the accomplishments and recognition he received was one thing, but knowing that YOU helped him by using your skill, your knowledge, your craft….what a beautiful thing for them to share.
