Refinishing complete! I added some reinforcing to the stand at the base of the rifle, if I remember right he had a landscaping rock to set where the milk crate is, but this will essentially be what it looks like refinished. The flag is a little darker than I normally paint but they all come out a little different. White oak, hand carved letters, hand painted flag, and hand carved rifle.

Finished painting the flag tonight. After the paint cures I’ll apply several coats of spar urethane. This is a log I carved about a decade ago, just refinishing it.

Just a base layer of paint, there will be several more layers of paint to create that 3D look. This is a refinishing of a log I carved/painted probably a decade ago.

So I smoked a brisket last weekend that was bigger than the cutting board I have, and decided to make a new one that’s big enough to handle anything that fits in my smoker. American Elm, 36“ x 13“. I am filling all of the knots And cracks with super clear liquid glass epoxy so there’s nowhere for the meat juices to get trapped. It will be finished with food grade mineral oil

Live edge egg rack. Holds 40 eggs. Made from a dead elm tree on our property. Cut into slabs and air dried 5 years. Treated with mineral oil only.

I used some leftover pieces of live edge to make the girls a more attractive egg holder. No finish yet bc the glue is still drying and I don’t want to disturb it, but I’ll use a natural mineral oil finish when it’s ready. Holds 40 eggs and it’s stackable, meaning you can remove each later to better reach the one below.

Turned out damned good, especially considering I haven’t made one in over a year. This one will be auctioned off for Holy Pursuit’s Dream foundation charity auction on March 1st at the Rushville fitness and community center. You can see in the background of the third photo the original I made on September 11th 2016. It’s been a long road.

No clear coat yet, no frame, but the distressing is done. This one is headed to Holy pursuit’s dream foundation; the auction is in Rushville on Saturday March 1st at the Rushville fitness community center if anyone wants to attend. Even if you don’t want to bid on anything at the auction just buying tickets to attend will help.
