We had another sold-out event with 32 sponsors, 200 golfers, 20 pickleball players, and a ballroom filled with nearly 300 guests enjoying remarks from Peg and Ken, as well as our resilient client speaker. Guests enjoyed delicious food, exciting auctions, and great golf prizes.

Special thanks to all our sponsors, both new and returning—especially our Stanley Cup Sponsor, Avalon Bay. Thank you to our loyal golfers, to FE Brands for the amazing golf shirts provided to each participant, and to Ferraro for our player goodie bags. We’re also grateful to our volunteers, who helped the day run smoothly.

Heartfelt thanks to Ken and Margaret Daneyko, Scott Clark, and the NJ Devils mascot.

An outstanding committee, including our auction co-chairs Joan DeCosimo and Frania Holloway, made this possible. Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who contributed incredible auction prizes. Our Silent and Live Auctions brought in nearly $20,000.

BNI Manhattan Chapter 33 - The Dream Team consistently goes above and beyond for The Center for Great Expectations. When our START program needed six convertible car seats, Chapter 33 donated the full amount to purchase all six!

They’ve supplied school items every summer for four years, donated highchairs and dining chairs to the Adolescent house, organized Baby Bottle Brigades, and created lasting community connections.

Each year, they golf, play pickleball, volunteer at our outing, and celebrate with us at the gala. This year, over 20 Chapter members showed up to support the mission.

Their commitment has impacted hundreds of lives—and they’re not done yet.

Thank you, BNI Chapter 33! 💜

Maternal Mental Health conditions are the leading cause of maternal mortality. This disproportionately impacts Black mothers, who face significant disparities in maternal healthcare outcomes.

It's vital to support Black mothers' mental well-being, not just for their quality of life, but for their survival.

Have you met Honeybell? 🐶

Meet one of our most heartwarming visitors—Honeybell, a certified pet therapy dog who brings joy, comfort, and plenty of tail wags to the children at Katy’s Place.

Her gentle presence creates moments of calm, connection, and healing for the little ones in our care.

Thank you, Honeybell, for sharing your love (and your wagging tail!) with The Center for Great Expectations. You make every visit brighter.

During Black Maternal Mental Health Week, let's challenge conventional ideas about mental health support. While licensed therapists play a crucial role, it's a fact that many in BIPOC communities find healing and nurturing for their mental health through spiritual leaders, trusted community supports, and traditional practices.

Recognizing and respecting these diverse pathways to wellness is essential. We must also acknowledge the historical racism within healthcare that continues to impact access to culturally competent mental health care for Black mothers.

Black Maternal Mental Health Week is a vital reminder of the urgent need for culturally humble, trauma-informed mental health care. 🧡

At CGE, we recognize the challenges Black mothers face—from stigma and provider bias to limited access to care—and we’re committed to creating safe spaces for healing, support, and empowerment.

This week, we honor the strength of Black mothers and advocate for a future where every woman receives the care she deserves.

Myth: “Mental healthcare is available. It is an individual's responsibility to engage.”
Truth: "For minoritized groups who have experienced historical trauma, these systems may not feel safe."

BIPOC communities have never lacked wisdom or strength.
What’s been missing is support that listens, honors lived experience, and builds trust.

CGE flips the script: We don’t wait for individuals to change—we change how support shows up.
We embed doulas, peers, and practical supports in the community—because that’s where healing begins.

Too often, mental health messaging says:
"You need to speak up. You need to overcome stigma. You need to ask for help."
But why are we asking BIPOC families to speak up in the face of stigma?

At CGE, we know that it is our responsibility to provide culturally responsive care.

That’s why our support isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s community-based, culturally informed, and delivered by people who reflect those we serve.

Because real healing happens when care meets culture—not when culture is asked to conform.
