Our Story
I began studying massage therapy in 2011 after working with rescue horses and seeing the impact of bodywork on their physical and emotional well-being. I enjoy the work because it allows me to be physically active, create my own schedule, and fuel my intellectual curiosity while helping other people reach their own goals and live lives with less pain. I spent four years working with the Boston University Men's Ice Hockey team, during which time they had four NCAA Championship Tournament appearances (2014-2018), an athlete in the Winter Olympics, and myriad players sign professional contracts.
My practice centers on assessing and treating soft tissue dysfunction with emphasis on the myofascial system. Sessions are client-tailored and structured in two different ways. One is very specific, assessing and treating the presented issue through movement and posture analysis, muscle testing, myofascial release, and corrective exercises. The other is very general, utilizing some Swedish and myofascial techniques to address the front, back and sides of the body.
I find that my most successful sessions are collaborative efforts between myself and the client: together, we facilitate improvement in the client’s well-being. I strive to create the optimum treatment plan for each person and the body they inhabit when they come in; I believe it’s important to meet people where they are and help them get to where they desire.
When I’m not working, I spend my time catering to Her Ladyship, Helen the Hound; riding and eventing my horse, Elsa; reading; traveling; and editing grant proposals and graduate school applications.
