Equestrian Back Pain Relief, Position & Performance

Take the EquiForm Supported Rider Assessment to see if your Internal Pressure System is working for your body and your ride, or against it. I have been a member of the American Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) since 2013, and my continuing education certifications include Hot Stone Therapy, Pre-natal Massage, Bamboo Fusion, Equine/Canine Sports Massage, Orthopedic Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release, CORE Myofascial Therapy, Neurokinetic Therapy I, II, and 3 (master level). Most recently, I've been studying with the Immaculate Dissection team and implementing their stability/motor control protocols. I work with a broad range of clients, from weekend warriors, equestrians, runners, weight lifters, and generally active individuals to elite, collegiate, and professional athletes. I spent four years (2014-2018) as the massage therapist for the Boston University Men's Ice Hockey team

The most important lesson I’ve learned in more than a decade in this business is that everything in the body is connected and therefore influences each other part. The second is that when we chase pain, we get lost; when we follow the anatomy, we resolve issues. My shift to tele-health is focusing on this second principle, as I want to provide impactful education, effective treatments, and empowering techniques for my clients. Let's meet where you are so we can take you where you want to go.

Real talk?

You don’t need another round of 6 PT sessions your insurance grumbles about paying.

You don’t need another $150 chiropractor session that buys you 48 hours of relief.

You need to know why your body keeps getting tight, tense, stiff, spasmy…

Even when you’re doing “everything right.”

That’s what my quiz, Why the F Does My Back Still Hurt?!” is designed to show you.

And then to give you the exact steps you need to make real change.

DM me WHY and I’ll yeet over the link.

90% of my riders feel supported, supplied and stronger in just two sessions.

Let’s get you into this club of cool kids.

Feeling burned out on programs…
but still craving support?

I’m exploring creating a soft landing space for women with back pain, burnout, or body disconnection to be seen, without pressure to perform, explain, or fix.

This is based on my own recent experience with burn-out and the kind of support I wish I'd had. Before I build it, I want to know what you think.

Would you take 60 seconds to share your thoughts?
Your insight means the world. 💛

The Missing Link in Your Horseback Riding, Back Pain, and Core Strength

Someone asked me recently: "What exactly is this Internal Pressure System you keep talking about, and why should I care?"

Well, I've answered that in a new blog post; and the TL;DR is that your IPS is the think people mean but don't actually understand when they talk about strengthening/engaging/stabilizing the core, whether for back pain or better riding position.

Check out the new blog post - it's about a 4 minute read!

What Is the Internal Pressure System (IPS)?Still dealing with back pain, even after PT, yoga, massages, chiro, and “rider core workouts”? There’s a reason it hasn’t worked yet. It’s not that you’re broken. It’s that your body’s internal support system has been overlooked; the other tre...

Someone asked me recently…

What exactly is this Internal Pressure System you’re talking about, and why should I care?

Your IPS is the thing folks mean but don’t actually understand when they say “strengthen/engage/use your core.”

And that’s exactly what I do in my EquiForm program!

We start with a 90 minute Ouch to Ahhh session and then develop a personalized coaching program based on your needs and goals for back pain relief.

Ready to finally get the missing piece? DM me IPS for first steps!

I promise - back pain does not have to be a personality trait once you hit 35!

I’ve created a super simple 4-step method that helps with back pain relief, and a lot of the things we riders need in the saddle:

- quiet seat
- clear aids
- less gripping
- smoother transitions
- elegant posture

And more.

How is that possible?! It’s all based on how our bodies are supported from the inside out, and most horseback riders start their back pain work from the outside in.

DM me RELIEF and I’ll send you a quiz walking you through each of the 4 steps and how missing any of them shows up in your body and in your ride.

Tell me if you’ve heard this before…

Riders need a strong core, flexibility, mobility, suppleness, independent aids, a quiet seat…

You know what folks never mention but created the foundation for all of the above?

A solid, well-developed internal support system to act as an internal scaffolding that supports your body and frees up your muscles to do all the rest of those jobs above.

This goes for healthy riders, riders with hyper mobility, riders with chronic stiffness and tension, riders with back pain.

It crosses disciplines from dressage to cutting to eventing to hunter jumper to fox hunting to trail riding.

And it’s built using what your body already does (breathing and movement), but we have forgotten and over complicated (shockingly).

Ready to get back to foundational basics that deliver results without taking up hours of your busy life?

DM me Info and I’ll send you first steps to developing your Internal Pressure System!

Our Story

I began studying massage therapy in 2011 after working with rescue horses and seeing the impact of bodywork on their physical and emotional well-being. I enjoy the work because it allows me to be physically active, create my own schedule, and fuel my intellectual curiosity while helping other people reach their own goals and live lives with less pain. I spent four years working with the Boston University Men's Ice Hockey team, during which time they had four NCAA Championship Tournament appearances (2014-2018), an athlete in the Winter Olympics, and myriad players sign professional contracts.

My practice centers on assessing and treating soft tissue dysfunction with emphasis on the myofascial system. Sessions are client-tailored and structured in two different ways. One is very specific, assessing and treating the presented issue through movement and posture analysis, muscle testing, myofascial release, and corrective exercises. The other is very general, utilizing some Swedish and myofascial techniques to address the front, back and sides of the body.

I find that my most successful sessions are collaborative efforts between myself and the client: together, we facilitate improvement in the client’s well-being. I strive to create the optimum treatment plan for each person and the body they inhabit when they come in; I believe it’s important to meet people where they are and help them get to where they desire.

When I’m not working, I spend my time catering to Her Ladyship, Helen the Hound; riding and eventing my horse, Elsa; reading; traveling; and editing grant proposals and graduate school applications.
