An exciting build up to the Olympics, 2028!
Today, I am thrilled to share a HUGE update for the seven 2028 Los Angeles Olympic events to be held in Oklahoma City… The competition schedule has been set!
Olympic competition in Oklahoma City will begin on what is known as Day Zero, the day of the Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles. And here’s the biggest news - Oklahoma City is scheduled to host the first and only Olympic competition on Day Zero!
At 9 am on Friday, July 14th, the first Summer Olympics competition ever held in OKC will commence with canoe slalom at our whitewater facility.
The very next day (what is known as Day 1), the first Olympic medals ever bestowed in OKC will be awarded. On that day (Saturday, July 15 - three years from today), canoe slalom will start at 9 am, and from that day forward, canoe slalom will continue every day at 9 am through Saturday, July 22nd. That means an amazing nine straight days of Olympic competition at our whitewater facility, with medals awarded on July 15, July 16, July 18, July 19 and July 22.
Then, the next day, Sunday, July 23rd, Olympic competition shifts to our softball stadium, with softball games that day at 9 am, 4 pm and 8 pm. That same daily schedule will repeat every day through Thursday, July 27th. Then on Friday, July 28th at 7 pm will be the bronze medal game. And then on Day 15 of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, at noon, the final competition in OKC will occur - the gold medal softball game. On that date across the Olympics, 16 gold and bronze medal events will be staged. The Closing Ceremony in Los Angeles will follow on Sunday, July 30th.
To summarize, Oklahoma City will host 2028 Los Angeles Olympic events for 16 straight days, and medals will be awarded on seven of those days. Canoe slalom will last for nine days and softball for seven.
