My oldest taught me this lesson.

It's okay to sit and relax, both your mind and your body. Many times we feel like we aren't being "productive" if we aren't up and "doing something" constantly. Sitting with your baby because they want you IS productive. It is producing a child that can trust they are safe with you, that can better regulate themselves as they grow, that can later build healthy connected relationships in the future.

All the things you think you need to do instead... They will still be there, over and over again. The laundry, dishes, cleaning... It will wait... It's not going anywhere, but that baby... It will be grown up in the blink of an eye!

Yes, I also understand the flip side of this. The anxiety, the touched out, the pressure inside your chest that screams silently "can't I just have one minute alone?!" The baby that MUST be with you and no one else, not Dad or Auntie (by blood or by heart), or Grandma, just Mom. It's okay, a good partner, sister and mother will understand! They will help make sure your needs are met, the housework will get done, and the errands will get run.

Did you know that YOUR milk is made specifically for YOUR baby?

Although your milk may look ordinary and just like milk from every other Mama, your body makes milk with the exact mixture of components your baby needs! When you feed your baby at the breast the saliva from their mouth communicates its needs with your body! Maybe they are fighting off germs... Your body will send extra antibodies through your milk! Growth spurt coming up and baby is extra hungry... Not only will cluster feeding help increase your supply but it will also beef up the contents of that milk!

My own experience: when breastfeeding my twins they each had their own side. My son always nursed on my left, my daughter on my right. When I returned to work I was pumping during the day, and feeding at the breast when I was home with them. I always labelled which side I had pumped from so that each baby got "their" milk. I started to notice that my son usually had a half ounce more, but the milk fat was thinner while my daughter's milk had lower volume but a thicker milk fat layer. Of course there were variations with their age and my diet changes day-to-day but I eventually came to enjoy seeing how their bottles varied with each pump session!

Yesterday was absolutely amazing! This was the ONLY PICTURE I got from yesterday and only because a woman was walking around taking them and let me text it to myself! Thank you again Community Action Pathways HUB for hosting the Community Baby Shower! I don't even know how many Mama's and Mama's-to-be I got to meet yesterday but I went through ALL of the gift bags my daughter put together for me in the first hour (2 gallon size ziplock bags, and 1 quart sized bag packed full), and then still handed out cards, handouts, stickers, bracelets, and more for the last two hours! Even as other tables were tearing down I still had Mamas stopping for information! I even had one already reach out to schedule her FREE breastfeeding class!

Anyone that has ever been a breastfeeding parent knows that those late night feedings can make it hard to remember which side to start a feeding from, and that usually when you are the most sleep deprived, your phone or feeding log sheet is just out of arms reach if not completely in another room!

Never fear, 🦸🏼The Hearth Mother has been there too and has a solution! 🎉 I designed these brightly colored bracelets to easily identify which breast to start your next feeding from! At the beginning of each feeding you can see which wrist has the bracelet identifying which side you started the last feeding from, and once your baby is latched simply move the bracelet to the arm that matches the side you are starting the feeding on!

I rarely ask to use messages from my clients as testimonials, but I was really touched to receive this after 18 months. I only worked for this family very briefly while the husband had to be out of town for work. The reality of PPD/PPA can vary dramatically solely because it is a hormonal and chemical imbalance. For some moms this means my work consists of helping with household tasks like laundry or dishes, for some it means giving them some time to tend to their own personal needs like showering or going to physical therapy appointments, and for others it means just being present to ensure their baby is taken care of while they get much needed sleep for their mind and body to heal!

Every journey is different, please never be afraid to reach out for overnight help if you are struggling with PPD/PPA. I would rather work with you on a payment plan and help bring you peace, than see you struggle with the darkness your brain can conjure!

This event is designed to shower new and expectant families with love, services, and all manner of products to support you, your baby, and your growing family!

Event registration is the day of the event and is completely FREE to attend, and offers a variety of FREE products and services! I will be offering breastfeeding support stickers (including the one you see here), along with breastfeeding bracelets, and a FREE breastfeeding class right from the comfort of your home!
