Eating fish, even salmon, even just once every 2 weeks, is a good way to ruin your liver and your brain. Fish are living bags full of toxins including lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, barium, radioactive cesium, pesticide residues, birth control residues, flame retardants, and hundreds of microplastics. Anyone condoning the consumption of fish, at all, is extremely poorly informed.

Many people for many years thought that fish was the "cleanest" meat. This is no longer true. All oceans around the planet are heavily polluted. Since fish are carnivores deadly toxins concentrate as we progress up the food chain. Their tissues are much more saturated with chemicals and heavy metals than the water they swim in.

A couple of important key points for protecting health:

If a person is congested, yogurt should not be consumed at all.

When a person is not congested yogurt may be okay. Ayurveda says that yogurt should always be consumed warm, not cold. Yogurt should only be eaten when it is warm weather, during the warm part of the day. You can put on top of hot food or take out of fridge several hours ahead of the meal.

From a spiritual perspective we want to increase harmony, happiness and health for all living beings. We always meditate and keep improving ourselves. The yogi will avert danger and spread knowledge. Sometimes this involves warning people of a danger so they can make their own choice of simple avoidance and sometimes even help to change the system. For instance, many people do not know that fabric softener and dryer sheets cause cancer in people and kill pets. Many do not know that synthetic fragrance and artificial color cause allergies and cancer. We have to tell them. To save the earth not just the use of these products must stop, the production of the poisons must stop. And stopping poison is spiritual. Shiva drank poison to save everyone but there is nobody to drink all the pesticides. Mother Earth does not want to drink more poison. I pledge to do my best to protect this planet. Who will join me?

Everything that happens is part of the divine plan. From a spiritual orientation it is always important to look at big picture. Ultimately, everything is pure consciousness. At the same time, we live on this planet right now and what is happening now is affecting us. I choose to help people to get past obstacles and see truth. Sometimes obvious solutions, such as stop the use of poisonous chemicals so the planet can detox, stop cutting down valuable forest, stop engaging in warfare... are not being chosen by those in charge. How do we get the rulers to make better decisions soon enough that it will make a difference in our lifetimes? Perhaps one person will get inspired and come up with something that truly makes a difference. I hope so.

Another tool (making it much easier to get moving!) for people who are accustomed to sleeping in during mornings is to do some Bhastrika pranayama right after getting up. You can even do it sitting on the edge of the bed!

To ease the challenge of getting out of bed on a cold morning, fill the kettle with water the night before. Then in the morning, after you clean your mouth you can have some warm/hot water very soon after getting up.
