The holidays are coming fast.
And with more family time, more alcohol, and more sugar… emotions can turn into a roller-coaster.

Things get said.
Some land hard.
Some sting longer than they should.

So here are three grounding strategies I swear by:

First: if you’re easily offended, you give your power away.
Pause and ask: Is this someone I respect? Someone whose life I’d want to emulate?
If not, their words don’t get to live rent-free in your mind.

Second: assume human error.
One careless sentence should never erase years of loyalty, love, and kindness.
Don’t let one misstep rewrite the whole story.

Third: ask what might be going on for them.
Are they overwhelmed? Hurting? Struggling?
Sometimes people don’t have the capacity to access the best parts of themselves—especially during the holidays.

And remember this truth:
“If you are easily offended, you are easily manipulated.”

Protect your peace.
That’s the real holiday gift.

This season, I’m letting go of perfection.
The perfect table. The perfect menu. The perfect performance.

I don’t want perfect.
I want presence.

Open your door.
Open your arms.
Sit at an imperfect table and quietly bless each person who gathers there.

Look people in the eyes.
Use kind words.
Make them feel seen, safe, and welcome.

Because years from now, no one will remember the centerpieces or the desserts.

They’ll remember how you made them feel.

That’s the legacy that lasts.
